just saw it and gotta say it was pretty damn good. Even though one thing keeps running through my head.

1. Imagine the all spark being used on the carrier group :D

2. Do you relly think the goverment would drop all that advanced tech into the ocean. Since its dead they would keep it for studies.

3. They leveled have a city and thousands of people saw the giant robots fighting. Plus the numerous cameras from the people and security cameras maens cover up is vertally impossible.

Nitpick: the tank was Brawl

My toughts about the movie, pure popcorn flick. But in a good way. Simply stunning action scene and special effects.

Funniest part, the Xbox 360 going on a rampage. I wonder what happened with him

quick question, when they come to earth, were they in some sort of "comet form" that allows them to use an FTL drive, or were they actually in pods that they finish destroying after reentry?

I assume they have FTL drives because Bumblebee shows up first and then calls the rest, instead of them all showing up at once. That implies(at least to me) that they split up to find the allspark.

I notice the most inane details. Like the f-14s on the deck of the carrier, and that that kid wasnt even bothering to pretend he was playing the DDR game

yeah plus you kno people ran out and grabbed souvenirs after the dust settled. who knows where they might end up?
3. They leveled have a city and thousands of people saw the giant robots fighting. Plus the numerous cameras from the people and security cameras means cover up is virtually impossible.
Even implying it was remotely possible, especially trying to use it as some sort of political commentary, really irritated me

Not according to the movie subtitles, official novelization, and Michael Bay. However, Roberto Orci (writer), the movie's credits (...), and the toys all list him as Brawl.

It's an open question right now.

I assume at least a few have personal FTL because of what we saw with Starscream and the fact Megatron was here on his own. The Ark and Nemesis do appear in the prequel novel Ghosts of Yesterday so it's posible it just might not be capable of planetary landings in this version.

I've known people who play DDR that way being more concerned with dancing in a way they think looks good than anything else.. their scores tend to suck :D

Well, perhaps that, but maybe more importantly, doing planetfall as "meteorites" is a lot less conspicuous than landing an entire ship. :P

It would make sense that they have FTL, since it's the only way they could have arrived so soon after Bumblebee signaled them. :P

During the atmospheric entry scene, you see a lot of stuff fly off of them as they enter the atmosphere. So much of the "comet form" is extra stuff that presumably covers the actual Transformer for protection and possibly for granting them FTL capabilities.

Obviously if a TF has built-in FTL capabilities they won't need such a form.

Does anyone know why the robots created by the All-Spark are always vicious and aggressive right off the bat?

I just saw it today and finally read this thread. I think that the majority of people here are thinking that they aren't necessarily evil, but more in a feral state. That there needs to be some conscious control when animating machines.

I took it to be a feral, animalistic state. As Prime said, Were we so different? Tev thinks it's the influence of having Megatron so close by for so long.

BTW, my boys saw the Transformers movie game at the store and pleaded with me to buy it. Against my better judgment, I did so. I can now announce definitively that the game was compiled with the make --options=suck command.

On what platform? PC? The PC game looks great and plays just fine for an arcade action title. It's got a few standard console flaws but nothing major.

All the home console versions are pretty terrible.

The DS versions (there is an Autobot version and a Decepticon version  ) are actually the best versions.

I have both the DS and the Wii versions, so I speak from first-hand experience. (Won the Wii version in a raffle on opening night.)

One reason I heard proposed for why the newly created Transformers all defaulted to aggressive was because they were all based on Megatron's technology. Which sounded good when I first heard it. Then I thought about it for just a bit longer and thought it was stupid (a vending machine needed Megatron?).

I like the feral explanation. They're alive but not smart.

I think it'd be cool to see the Vending Machine / car / evil-XBox transformers in the next movie, but I think we can assume they were safely taken care of by the Autobots off-screen.

Heck, the vending machine and XBox could be taken out by the soldiers.

Yeah, wasn't the vending machine only even firing Product Placed Soft Drink Cans? Someone could probably do the KE calculations for a can fired at high velocity, but I don't imagine the total firepower + armor combo is much of a match for a grenade/anti tank weaponry.

You're in luck- according to an IGN interview, Bay said
While talking about his decisions on why some Transformers made the cut and not others, Bay lets slip a juicy morsel. "I had an amazing aircraft-carrier idea that was just too expensive, so maybe another movie… that'll get the fans talking!"
Yes, he's obviously trying to excite fans, but Bay has clearly considered the idea. :)

Was it really? I didn't notice. If so, it really makes you wonder how a Nokia phone managed to have a miniature machine gun and missiles.

Atari published a very good Transformers game back in 2004. The name is (drumroll) Transformers and it's a PS2 exclusive. Well worth checking out if you have PS2.
