Chitoryu12, Starglider, you have been marked as rival overlords.

But are you at this very moment insinuating a full-spectrum mind control suite into the very board code, under the guise of a bag of benevolent and helpful upgrades? It is so cunningly encoded that there is no way the code reviews of mere mortals will... oh... damn.chitoryu12 wrote:In regards to our time on the board. I've got about two year on Starglider.
Curses, my tendency to monologue has ruined yet another brilliant master plan! No matter, I shall simply switch to one of my multiply redundant backup plans for total global domination. Once I have achieved it I will be sure to place you in a particularly inventive death trap as fitting reward for your insolence!
Overuse of Myers-Briggs might be lame, but actually putting your indicator in your sig has got to be lamer. Turns out people will do any online survey you send them?
There are problems with M-B, but Spoonist covered most of them. I'm just disappointed that so many people think using such tools in isolation, with no context or understanding is in some way significant. Then again, people keep posting that 'political compass' bullshit, so clearly people just enjoy being able to put themselves into convienient boxes.

Regarding changeable indicators, it's possible that's down to poorly-worded questions, IIRC, the MBTI is supposed to look at behaviour preferences, not how you actually behave (for example, according to both versions of the test I've done, I'm so introverted I'm surprised I got out of bed this morning, yet working in retail meant I had to actually speak to people (the horror!)).
"So you want to live on a planet?"
"No. I think I'd find it a bit small and wierd."
"Aren't they dangerous? Don't they get hit by stuff?"

Those flaws Spoonist brought up are imo quite minor.
Truthful and self-aware? If people aren't they aren't, we cannot save them.
Personality change? I am an adult now, although the character of many people including myself I suppose is debatable, I am not so malleable as a little child. This "personality change" is more a function of the person's self-perceived status in relation to the others he or she is interacting with.
MBTI happens to be exceedingly accurate, far more so than any horoscope which I mentioned briefly in my initial post. It is known that well written 'scopes can resonate well and fool many people but this is not the case with MBTI
If one does find overlap it is only natural that people can have intermediary results rather than being sharply classified into discrete categories. I am very slightly ENFP and ENTJ as well, but ENTP by far certainly fits most exactly and amazingly
Myers-Briggs have accomplished something quite interesting and I salute them

After all, people certainly treat their parents differently than they do other people, as demonstrated by the very example Spoonist brought up, kids treat their parents differently from other adults!the wicked prince wrote:This "personality change" is more a function of the person's self-perceived status in relation to the others he or she is interacting with.
Many people would find their mental status, how shall we say it, compromised upon meeting somebody like the President.
Again the first stated flaw of truthfulness, that is unhelpable, so to speak, so we may safely disregard it. And MBTI is far from any mere horoscope

Consider that it is extremely accurate, I don't see what the issue is here. Nebulous philosophizing about the nature of experts vs lays? Horoscope placebo effect?
Horoscopes are supposed to fit the majority of people; Myers Briggs types do not
I know full well that other people are introverted, traditionalist, unimaginative, hard work for hard work's sake. I hardly see that Myers-Briggs could fail to discriminate between me and them

What? What are you even talking about? You just keep saying 'rar rar it is extremely accurate, better than horoscopes even'. It's not MY fault people feel the need to seek validation through the use of psychological tools. It simply reminds me that everyone I know who has been measured with a high IQ - in a professional test, of course - think they're useless bullshit. It's the ignorant retards who think they're hot shit and they MEAN anything. I hear boiling such a test down to a single number or letter code is totally missing the point and losing the real results in favour of a largely meaningless soundbyte?
If you already knew the sort of person you are, than what did getting a four-letter code DO that makes it ANYTHING LIKE a horoscope?
And holy fucking shit, stop doubleposting because you're too stupid to proofread. Your additional posts DON'T make you any clearer.
