[Discussion] So when did the rules change?

Post by The Duchess of Zeon »

Rules of the Senate:
THREADS:

4. Wheeeeee - The rest of the time this place is for fun, and pretending to be crooked politicians, so if it doesn't carry a Serious thread label Crack on and have fun.

So why has the good admin Ozymandias decided to lock this thread which unquestionably contains acceptable content under Thread Rule #4 of the Senate?

Have the Senate rules been changed? If so, the text of the posted rules should be altered forewith. I will give the honourable admin the benefit of the doubt and assume this is the case, but because the text of the rules has not been altered (presumably to reflect the highly serious nature of the Senate, or something), it is very confusing.

Oh, and I'll add that this thread is also quite legitimate under the rules, re:
4. Democracy in inaction - You, yes you lucky few, get to discuss board policy! You can float your own idea's for discussion, you can float your friends idea's if you wish, and when the Mods make a policy decision you get to comment on it. And unlike anyone else that might discuss/comment on it, you actually get to have an impact. Go you!
So of course this is a legitimate thread to discuss a policy decision.

Which begs the question, what precisely was that policy decision, and why wasn't anyone notified?

I think the problem is that there's a difference of opinion as to what constitutes good clean Imperial fun. And Ozymandias, god bless him, decided that your thread wasn't very much fun. And he, being by the grace of Wong Despot of Forums, has an opinion that counts for more than yours.

lol, sry!

I really think that's a matter for Robbo to decide, Pablo.

And frankly it seems to be the problem that people take my hilarious melodramatic declaimations far, far to seriously for their own good. I DO have a sense of humour, which I use often.

P.S. I don't care because I have the final victory, as your use of testing abbreviations has damned you to HELL as Cthulhu's GAY TENTACLE RAPE victim.

An empty proposal, Rob is absent. In his absence, his duties in the senate devolve to the senior administration staff, e.g. the handful of admins like Ozymandias.

Well, I think in this case the difference is that you started a brand new thread just to have a laugh, whereas people might think that the "have fun" clause of the Senate handbook refers to joking around in threads established for actual business.

Sea Skimmer's joke "budget" thread is explicitly mentioned and linked to in the rules as an example of an acceptable form of fun.

If that is the justification, then you're simply wrong.

THREADS

1. Clear as mud - As mentioned in above, you guys get to discuss board policy, and discuss points raised by others. You can also air any problems you may believe exists that needs addressed. There are doubtless other types of thread that will come into existance on the Forum, so they need a heads up in the title :

[Discussion] = a talk about board policies.
[Point] = A point of interest either your own or one that has been passed to you for discussion by an other board member (remember Rule 4).
[Problem?] = Something you feel is wrong and needs to be debated or cleared up. However it should be something that can only be mentioned here (board software issues are handled in OT for instance).
[Vote] = These will only be started by Governors and above in the case of serious votes.
[Voted] = A vote thread that is closed. When the title of a poll is amended to this, then too late the poll is closed.
[Member] - Thread for nominating new members. A new one every 2nd of the month.
[Poll] = Something silly, a perfect example would be Skimmer's Budget Poll thread. the Board automatically adds this so you don't need to worry.
I'm sorry if this was a misconception but it seemed like it was being actively encouraged by that section of the rules, so I think it was a pretty understandable one.

Hey, look, Pablo, I don't plan on continuing to make threads remotely like that or anything of the sort after this, and as far as I'm concerned the actual issue itself is closed in Ozymandias' favour, but I'm just genuinely bothered by how damn confusing that is because the rules seemed to be very clear-cut in encouraging it. So if the administration of the board doesn't approve, please edit the rules to make that clear, since they seem to give the exact opposite impression right now. Because I read that as "go right ahead and create all the silly threads you want".

The fact still remains that, in Rob's absence, the admins make decisions in the Senate. As we are all different people, I think it is to be expected that we would not necessarily make exactly the same decisions Rob might have made were he present.

It was a judgement call, Ozymandias has the authority, and he has made his decision. It's done.

Unlike you and your record of dozens of excellent fanfiction which... All stops at the fifth chapter... I actually tend to finish mine. And write sequels. Since I'm a woman I invariably do this while multitasking (we're better at it than you are) about nine other things, one of which is firing off replies to you in this thread over something which ranked at around in the bottom 5% of my tasks for yesterday, namely, a minor procedural issue in the Senate like this.

Anyhow, yeah. I confess I didn't make the connection. But now I've mentally started thinking about you as "Five Chapter Sanchez", which frankly entirely makes up for that oversight. To me.

At my skill level five seconds is enough for me to bring a woman to climax--to pick an example out of a hat, your mother--three or four times. No, wait, I meant three or four HUNDRED times. Ain't a woman alive who can handle me for more than a few seconds at a time.

Don't you mean Thai Crossdressers? I mean, why else would you use the entire Senatorial travel budget for trips to Bangkok, denying us a chance to assemble a junket to Bermuda?

I can't be encapsulated by your simple definitions of sexuality. Labels like "perversion" or "paraphilia" collapse in the face of my limitless ardor!

There are lots of strange opinions out there about what I'm like, but Spyder somehow deciding to support me to be an admin is possibly the weirdest response to my existence I've ever gotten on this message board.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
