I've got no problem with it, although I think it's highly unlikely that a massive stock market crash would result from an attack which was ultimately utterly unsuccessful, especially considering what a massive source of wealth the huge concentration of industry in the Sol region represents. Moreover, it certainly wouldn't mean that your internal trade would increase massively overnight. A lot of Sol->Sector trade conglomorates would have to go bankrupt or drastically change their operations firest.

Given the strength of the combined earth forces compared to the space monsters!!!!! you shouldn't really have to lose ships, you should have just blown the ever living fuck outta the ships you shoot up. Damage is very probable with that number of ships, but most of the space monster weapons are not able to one shot comparable ships so severe damage would seem the worst possible consequence. But go ahead and lose ships, my robot armies of doom shall feast on your children's walkmans, mhu ha ha ha ha!!

The Africa mess is going to deal a lot more damage to stock markets than a combined nation effort kicking some space monster ass.Thirdfain wrote:I've got no problem with it, although I think it's highly unlikely that a massive stock market crash would result from an attack which was ultimately utterly unsuccessful, especially considering what a massive source of wealth the huge concentration of industry in the Sol region represents. Well its not a "Crash" like economic depression, just that, like many markets, worry often spooks investors. ALso, "time" isn't well defined. You guys JUST finished the Monster attack, as far as The Sector knows, its still going on, and We could be next! ^_^
Mostly I just wanted to toss something in there since i've been away for a while.. The post right Before that one actually had a LOT more detail in whats been happening in my area.
Oh, and ON the Earth attack.. I think it inevitable that SOME ships would be loss... however weak the Space Monsters are one on one.. there we're simply too many of them.. Also don't forget panic and fear most likely played a part in some casualties.

Given the chaotic and unprecedented conditions, with vast swarms of enemies overloading sensor processing capability, large fleets from several different nations and ships trying to dodge being rammed left right and centre, I would not be surprised if some of those hits were friendly fire. It happens often enough in real life in much less chaotic circumstances. Future engagements will probably go better once sensible strategies for destroying vast numbers of space bugs are designed and implemented.Dark Hellion wrote:Damage is very probable with that number of ships, but most of the space monster weapons are not able to one shot comparable ships so severe damage would seem the worst possible consequence.

I don't see any damage on my fleet. It was explicitly sitting way out at optimal missile engagement range. Given that the space monsters only explicitly concentrated only on the Logosians and Polish ships, I don't see a damaged ship...

Actually, they were primarily engaging the Polish and the Portugese Fleets. The Centrality will suffer some casualties because of our close proximity and the space monsters not being too picky.Dahak wrote:I don't see any damage on my fleet. As for friendly fire, this isn't a close quarters fight at night in the jungle. This is a space battle stretching over tens of thousands of kilometers with computer assisted fire control and targets that don't register like allied starships. There isn't going to be a whole lot of it.Nephtys wrote: They closed the distance to the Portugese and Polish fleets like a relentless violet tide.

I interpreted that as '25% tried to run away, 20% made it' but I may be mistaken.Nephtys wrote:With some say... 20% of my units remaining. I dunno what kind of losses would be appropriate for the Sol groups, since not all are necessarilly deeply involved in such a mass engagement.

Also, the CoOperative has one new ship, the captured destroyer-carrier that is being moved to new mombassa heights.

It’s more like an angry mouse; squirming around trying to escape; biting anything that in reach. Not especially dangerous, but I wouldn't get too close without a glove.Redleader34 wrote:Also, the CoOperative has one new ship, the captured destroyer-carrier that is being moved to new mombassa heights.
Maybe we should wait for Nephtys to react to the interdiction, eah?Starglider wrote:I interpreted that as '25% tried to run away, 20% made it' but I may be mistaken.

The smallest force I field which would be on patrol would be one of my raiding divisions.Starglider wrote:Ok. Shall I have one of my raiders run into one of your patrols? If so, what's the composition? ~12pts of ships including a few points of EW should do nicely for hunting down the raider.Thirdfain wrote:Starglider, the CoN now has a definitive membership list. You should update the Quickref Guide.
An element of the 4th Fleet Corps, out of Swirski Fleet Base, Nowy Podlasie.
----2nd Raiding Division
1 Sęp- class Interdiction Cruiser
1 Blyskawica- class Light Cruiser
1 Husaria-class Heavy Cruiser
-2 "Zbik"-class Frigates
-2 "Orzel"-class EW Destroyers
-1 "Wilk"-class Destroyer
In total, 20 points of crusier firepower, 6 points of escorts, 2 points for the EW boat, and 10 points for the interdictor.

I find myself disappointed by the lack of activity during my period of absence. The silver lining is that there is less stuff to catch-up on.
BTW - Despite it taking an eternity to get writen-out, the meeting between the Spanish (more specifically, Castillian) ship and one of Poland's colony worlds has been over and done with since before the whole thing with the space monsters in Sol. I'm saying just in case anyone somehow thinks a first contact meeting would take a few weeks.
