Perhaps they should have waited until they had something more concrete and detailed to show you - it's not always a good idea to distribute storyboards and sketches to the general public while the idea is still in process.
That machinima isn't the real trailer (which for Blizzard games, you'll know when you see it).

This is exactly what they did when they announced Burning Crusade in October 2005, they released a similar "trailer" which consisted of some footage from the game engine, and still shots of concept art. It wasn't until last winter, a month or so before BC's release that they gave us the real trailer, what with Illidan telling players we aren't prepared.

I wouldn't expect a magnificent Blizzard style trailer until we we're a lot closer to release date.

From the FAQ:
Will there be any new cinematic scenes?

Yes, our cinematics department is hard at work preparing a new intro movie for the expansion.

Good god when Jedi first were unlocked, it was disgusting. It's been a while obviously but i seem to remember taking at least 10-15 fully combat specced people to take down a single jedi.

As for WoW, i'm glad i quit after BC. I'm a minority voice i think but i couldn't take the level cap raise. Pre-BC i leveled to 60 fairly fast and went straight into raiding, by the time BC came out, my guild had cleared MC, ZG, AQ20, BWL, AQ40 and were just starting the newest instance (can't rememeber its name though). I had some really nice stuff at 60, but as soon as the cap was raised to 70, plenty of people had greens and blues to rival the gear i had previously spent hundreds of hours raiding for. I guess i'm just bitter but after that i decided i'd had enough and canceled my subscription.

Like i said, i'm probably a minority voice but i'm one of those people against making the game more casual. Or at least trying to find a proper balance between the two (if there is such a thing).

You did, but people mainly cried because they were Alpha class, till the CU anyway. And that's the same for Death Knight, the quest bit I mean, somewhere it said that the "specification" you have to meet to make one is a series of non-raid quests, kinda like Paly or 'Lock mounts.

I really doubt they'll do that, make them dominant I mean, the crying on the forums would just be too much. People just read that they'll start at level 50+ or so, and assume that means they'll be better than everyone I guess.

I wonder if there'll be race specific death knights? As a die hard Tauren player it'll suck if I have to have an undead human.

It was the last expansion that killed it for me. I'd worked my ass off in ZG and other lvl 60 places to get good gear then along came The Burninc Crusade and all my hard grinding was for fuck all. A mood MMO gives you a sese of progression, WoW doesn't.

No matter how small the change is going to be, people will complain.
DAoC's latest campaign just ended and people are complaining about gear with ~10 more points of utility than the best stuff that was around before and people are whailing.
I made a new suit for my shaman and with the new stuff I gave up 100ish hits and gained 20% extra resists to two rare damage types and some buff bonus so I don't have to swap 5 pieces when buffing or rebuffing during a fight. I gained a little but if I went back to any character I played after the release of Trials of Atlantis and the gear would be good enough for me to be an effective part of any group <shrug>

From what I saw of the Q&A that was posted on the intrawebs regarding gear upgrades, the Dev's said pretty much expect the same jump from TBC blues/purples to WoLC greens but not Tiers 6/7. Those will do you a long time.

Frankly it makes sense, I too busted my gut prior to TBC to get ONE epic (Robe of the Void, how much I loved thee ... and the four days of grinding to get you), which was made null the moment I stepped into Outland. Did it piss me off? Yes, but there's just no way I could have kept that Robe for, say, a Black Morass run (and don't even think about Kara and beyond).

Blizzard did good in finally pumping some steroids into the gear itemisation, and it especially helped bridge the gap between players that had just started WoW (like me), and those that were old hands.

Personally I think it's a good move.

Also for anyone with a Mage; spirit is known to be idiotic, and they said they'll fix it ... whether that means that Spirit doesn't count as much to the itemisation (say 2 or 3 spirit to 1 Intellect/Stamina, whereas now it is 1:1:1) or they'll give spirit more of an affect they weren't clear on. That also helps Priests too I guess.

Yeah, well...hopefully they will gain some sense :) .

This news combined with 1900 rating for Season 3 weapons(or whatever they choose) is really making me wonder why play much more. Like Broom I have fun, but I do acknowledge at this point in time, there is only so much without gear. And the game has gone to that point. I've done alts, I've done switching sides, I've done PvP servers. And it feels all the same. Right now, I play twice a week to maintain rank for my arena team with their 2089 rank, to feel...well not much. Only other reason? My girlfriend and I enjoy Arena for the hell of it(That team has a rank of only 1785).

As for people screaming of epics. Maybe less then a percent of SD.net players were even where I was at(I had mostly Naxx gear for tanking and killing shit), and I had not a care about the expansion gear upgrades. Honestly I am glad because when I played my Warlock alt, it was awesome. It took me a while to upgrade the warrior, but meh...I got them, and it was good until I grew sick and tired of raiding and went Arena.

So it still stands for me. If I stick around for the next year...the expansion better fucking be complete from the onset of what it promises. Not Patch 3.1 for buildings, Patch 3.2 for Death Knight, Patch 3.3 For Arthas. I may not do all this shit, but paying 40+ monthly for half assed product was bad one go around.

I played WoW for several months long enough to get a Rogue up to 58 and several other characters to various levels.

I enjoyed the game alot, the visuals were awesome. Unfortunately several things killed the game for me.

1. The "Casual-Gamer" focus was a cool idea but if you make it possible for a casual gamer to make decent progess then the lamer faggot power gamers who play for days on end become uber so fast that it really kills the fun.

2. They talked forever about Honor Points and how killing lowbies would be punsihed to the point that even your own sides NPC guards would try to kill you. Then they decided that they didnt want to offend the 14 year old punks who lived on the game and poof no more honor.

3. Beta too long. The beta lasted forever and basically allowed almost every single quest to be mapped out before the game went live. Between this and gripe #1 the first maxxed out character was a lvl 40 gnome in less than 3 weeks of game release.

Me I am looking forward to the release of Age of Conan.

Why do you care what level other people's characters are?

It's not often someone complains that a game had too much beta testing.

Because they didn't fix so many obvious beta problems, despite how fucking long beta ran? Blizzard still hasn't fixed problems that have existed since beta, but complaints just get QQ from the Blizzard apologists.

What I love is how not only do they not only fail to implement long-wanted features (ie changing hairstyles) but they make jokes about it (Burning Crusade belfs).

Lvl 70 hunter, need I say more?

They cant even balance the game, yet they are adding more things into the mix. That is the down fall of it.

If they focused just on PvE, well no problem, it wont matter realy what a class can do.

PvP, no problem, to balance individually

Its when they decided to try to focus on both that they ran into problems. The same set of skills used for pve are not the same required for pvp.

They need to work out all the bugs, then incorporate a higher level. Or better yet, just make the new content, just that, new content, no additional levels.
