If we collect both do they evolve into a TARDIS version?????

"Horribly inconsistant stylus controls"?

What the fuck? You touch the buttons and they do what you want them to.

I find navigating via touch screen to be a hell of a lot more efficient than using the buttons. It certainly makes going through your inventory easier.

Stylus control is all over the place. You can't use the stylus to skip the intro. Saving & loading doesn't even use the bottom screen, so you're SOL there.

The items submenu supports stylus controls, but the main menu you use to get there doesn't. The combat menu uses the stylus, but movement doesn't, so you're switching between the two. Now, the combat menu has nice, big buttons you push with your fingers, but name entry when you catch a Pokémon needs the stylus. Then you're back to walking with the buttons...

Basically, it feels like they designed the game with button controls, then bolted on stylus bits here and there without thinking how or why they'd be useful.

I agree that the controls are not exactly consistent.

I thought you were complaining that the touch controls that were there were not implemented well, which certainly isn't the case.

But I'm just getting started. I really wish they'd put the type table in the manual like they did with Blue...

But then you won't buy their strategy guides...

You can get a Poketech app later on that lets you compare how effective attack types are to a Pokemon's type, and it can even calculate for dual-type Pokes.

The type table in Red/Blue was grossly inaccurate; it (along with the cartoon) made legions of kids believe that Ghost was strong against Psychic, among other things.

I'm not going through the game very fast - three badges, lvl 25 team. Maybe in a while.

That said, is there a requirement to beat before you can trade older Pokémon on GTS? The R/B/Y ones that care in D/P are there, but others aren't - I want a squirtle, damnit :(

I was going to hatch it for you, but you're pretty early in the game, so you don't want it going out of control. Keep it in your party and it should hatch in ~5000 steps.

Thanks. I didn't even know about eggs, I skipped everything past Blue. It's weird to think about Pokémon mating...weird and a bit wrong :-|

Throw two Pokemon of opposite gender but similar type (say, Pikachu and Marill, that's what I did) and they'll mate and have an egg.

You want weird? Consider the fact that I have a female Machoke.

And I'm going to evolve it into a Machamp.

You can switch it to Start in the options menu. I don't see why, it works fine.

And Bidoof isn't completely useless: he's adorable, in a "mentally challenged gerbil" sort of way.

I'm pretty sure somewhere in the game somebody (maybe the guy at the daycare?) said something about how nobody has ever actually seen a pokemon LAY an egg, they just find them holding the eggs after a while...

so there could be some sort of PokéStork involved, rather than actual mating...

I think some arbitrary Breeder says that, the Daycare Man says "Oh, it's you! We were raising your Pokemon and my goodness, we were surprised! Your Pokemon was holding an egg! We don't know how it got there, but your Pokemon had it. You do want it, don't you?"
