I was just wondering this yesterday. It seems to me that if a gay man is turnedon by other men, his own body might turn him on. I can't speak professionally, but I can't help wondering.

i dont know, but most of them probably not. it would be similar to being turned on by a sibling or even your twin. and since most people are not turned on by family members i doubt that homos are turned on by themselves. of course verilon or einhänder could answer this question more accurately.

Yes, it's possible, it's called Narcissism. Straight men also can have it. Maybe women, I'm not sure.

I don't think the incest taboo would apply, because it seems you have to have grown up around a person in order for the taboo to work (there was some study somewhere that said siblings separated at birth were just as likely to be attacted to each other as to anyone else, while unrelated children raised in the same house had some form of the incest taboo). Since you don't count as "someone else", you wouldn't feel the same sort of revulsion looking at yourself in the mirror as you would with, say, your brother.

That being said, I could be talking out of my ass. Since I'm into chicks, it's a moot point for me anyway.

Just to add something here; I have heard the term 'narcissexual' tossed about by psychologists before. I believe that there is a mental or emotional condition that causes people to fall in love with themselves, or to prefer only self-sexual-gratification to the company of others.

Now, I might be talking about rodents here - a year later all my sociobiology is smushed up in my head - but I think that it works both ways - unrelated people who grew up together are unattracted to each other, but so are sibligs raised separately - it's a pheromone thing.

There's definitely a hormone that women only find sexy if it's produced by a version of that gene they don't have - i.e. produced by someone probably unrelated. however, the detection of this is thrown off by hormones, so anyone who met their girl while she was on the Pill, Beware! - when you decide to try for kids she might stop fancying you!
