As a bowie fan, I just have to say. Ziggytacular, totally Tom-like. (And I need a better Bowie-phrase)Reg wrote:David Bowie will appear as an "evil alien abductor" in a two-part Doctor Who special, the Sun reports.
Bowie, 60, has reportedly agreed to "cross swords" with the Time Lord after being approached by Who chiefs impressed with his 2006 outing as an inventor in The Prestige. There are no details of the storyline, apart from the suggestion that Bowie's character will get on the wrong side of the good Doctor by kidnapping writer Agatha Christie.
The singer's spokesman denied he was set to hit the small screen next year, but a Doctor Who insider said: "Bowie said he'd be interested as long as he's not subjected to hours of disfiguring make-up."

David Bowie should be the 11th Doctor. That would be awesome.

Way back in 1999, he was was considered for the role of Elrond in the LotR trilogy and I always liked him in Jim Henson's puzzling Labyrinth (look at the way his tight spandex trousers bulged ).
If I was given a choice on who the next Doctor was going to be, it would be a close choice between Jason Isaacs and David Threlfall.

He was also in the running to play the Joker in the 1989 Batman movie. It might still not have been enough to save that movie's awful script, but Bowie would almost certainly have made a far better Joker than Nicholson.
(The again, a piece of dryer lint would have made a far better Joker than Jack Nicholson.)

Well if the Sun said it, it must be true. Even if David Bowie says otherwise.

David Bowie is actually a quite good actor in his own right, we just don't see enough of him on the big screen.Big Orange wrote:Way back in 1999, he was was considered for the role of Elrond in the LotR trilogy and I always liked him in Jim Henson's puzzling Labyrinth (look at the way his tight spandex trousers bulged ).

As for the next Doctor, I think it would be a hoot to have Tilda Swinton. Let the Doctor get a bit in touch with his feminine side, without it becoming ridiculous. She's sufficiently androgynous to pull that one off.

Nonsense, if there is ever to be a female Doc, it'll be Joanna Lumley. If you don't get that reference, you shall be dropped into a great big Pit of Doom.

I take it Rowan Atkinson wil actually be playing the resurrected Master this time around?Dartzap wrote:Nonsense, if there is ever to be a female Doc, it'll be Joanna Lumley. If you don't get that reference, you shall be dropped into a great big Pit of Doom.

I have nothing against him and his guest appearance on Extras where he publicly humiliated Andy Millman when playing the piano was one of the funniest things I'd ever seen.Atlan wrote: David Bowie is actually a quite good actor in his own right, we just don't see enough of him on the big screen.

Damn it. I would have loved having Bowie play a Who villain.

It should come as no surprise that he can act, given the theatrical nature of his musical career. He thrived for decades on completely reinventing his stage act and his public persona, and did it in a way that made the most prominent imitator, Madonna, look like a stupid slag.Atlan wrote:David Bowie is actually a quite good actor in his own right, we just don't see enough of him on the big screen.
