Anyone See The GC MGS4 Trailer?
I've been away sorting out my life for a month, so haven't had the 'net, which meant listening to my bro go on about this new trailer. I just downloaded it and I can't help but think each trailer is a wargasm exercise in how to deal with insurgents in Iraq.
It's funny how everyone thought the game would be too easy, then they see the Beauty and Beast unit (the latest freaks modelled on the original FOXHOUND unit before Dead Cell and The Cobras/Sons of Big Boss) and complain it looks too hard. It definitely looks disturbing, but original bizarre fighting teams are Kojima-san's speciality.
I, for one, hail our new supermodel-scarred-inside-wearing-exoskeletons-of-death overlords.

A link to the trailer would be nice. I might have already seen it but I can't be sure because there've been a few MGS4 trailers and I have no idea what the hell "GC" is supposed to mean in this context.

I was thinking the exact same thing. It was either that or it had something to do with GenCon.Spyder wrote:My first thought, "They're putting MGS4 on the Game Cube?"

Edit: corrected the link.
If The Infinity Program were not a forum, it would be a pie-in-the-sky project.

I know. That's what's so great about it.Pelranius wrote:Personally, the MSG series looks more and more loopy with each successive installation.

Yeah, I thought you would. That's what I thought of as well. I mean, wow, Raging Raven really does sound like that.weemadando wrote:All I could think of was the classic late night music show opening credits.Ford Prefect wrote:"Show me your raaage!"

Have you never played a Metal Gear Solid game before? They have giant robots and men wielding 20mm Vulcan cannons and cybernetic super ninjas that slice bullets out of the air and the thing that broke your suspension of disbelief was Crying Wolf digging in and pushing back against an armoured dozer?TheMuffinKing wrote:Holy crap, that's the direction this series is taking? MGS4 seemslike a SciFi channel crapfest. Oh well. What really lost me was that mecha wolf thing holding back a D9 dozer... my SOD went out the window on that one.
Was this stuff fan driven or has Kojima finally taken the red pill?
That's what lost you? That?

Honestly, I love the giant robots, cyborg ninjas, and vulcan wielding maniacs. I just love bulldozers more! Just something about the characters shown in this video get to me, over all I like being "glossed" over by all the other cool stuff in the games.Ford Prefect wrote:Have you never played a Metal Gear Solid game before? No, no, it's fine. I was just astounded that pushing against a D9 would get you ... considering that later in the same trailer 'she' (they're all women, but it's difficult to think of them as such) flips it over like it's a toy.TheMuffinKing wrote:Honestly, I love the giant robots, cyborg ninjas, and vulcan wielding maniacs. Oh? How? I love how anti-war comments are always preachy. Maybe if they chose the Michael Bay method of praising the glory of war, it'd be better, yes?with some of the most ridiculously pretentious dialogue I've ever heard,
I think you watched the wrong trailer. Bio-robots? Ninjas? There were none in that trailer, sir.followed by ninjawank and biorobots of some sort.
I feel asleep indeed. Maybe Kojima needs to find himself an MSX2 and try to figure out where he went wrong.
And where he went wrong? It's the same fucking formula as every other MGS and MG game! Oh no, a Cat D9 is stopped by a mechanical wolf. My SOD is dead and buried, but I can still accept psychic gimps, a man who carries and fires an M61 Vulcan and a corny Brit who doesn't stay dead for more than five minutes! This would be funny if I didn't hear it every time MGS was ever mentioned.

Pfft, it was special forces stuff. And Volgin did have Hinds six years before they entered service in our time-line. If you can have Granin seriously talking about bipedal robots of practical ability, a few gadgets like personal SODAR and NVGs aren't beyond reason.
That hundred billion in 1964 dollars obviously paved the way for a lot of cool stuff in the MGS-verse we've yet to get.

Bizarrely, Granin's whole 'tanks need legs son!' sounded remarkably reasonable compared to jet engines on a tank.Admiral Valdemar wrote:If you can have Granin seriously talking about bipedal robots of practical ability
Though SIGINT does not agree. I got a chuckle out of him deriding the Metal Gear idea after meeting with Granin. And speaking of SIGINT, does anyone else think that it might have been him talking in the new trailer? Albeit really old.
