Because he's a Redskins fan, and his precious Redskins got humiliated on national television by the Eagles in the second game of the season, and beaten again in December, this time by A.J. Feely. I don't imagine there's a lot of Cowboys or Giants fans rooting for an Eagles win this week, either.

I used to follow NFL football quite closely in the 1980s. But at some point around 1995 or so, it seemed that the level of play began to seriously decline. The game became less and less interesting to me, at least on the professional level, anyway.
I've always liked college football but these days I rate it over the pros. I like the tradition, the rivalries, the enthuasiasm, and the competitiveness. I've missed whole chunks of the NFL these past years but have either had a Big 10, SEC, or Notre Dame game lined up on my schedule during the season.
I haven't looked in on any of the NFL playoffs and can't really bring myself to care about which two teams finally make it to the lame crapfest that is the Stupor Bowl. I'll probably watch, or half-watch, out of habit or if I get invited over for a party. But I'll bet that the alledged "big game" will not match the nailbiting excitement which ensued with the double-overtime win of Ohio State over Miami in the Fiesta Bowl for the national championship. Now, that was football.

I think the college vs. pro question comes down to where you live a lot of the time. Around here, the nearest big-time program is Penn State, more than 3 hours away. Pro football has always ruled around Philadelphia, even during the years (decades) that the Eagles were consistently awful. Basketball is a slightly different story--there's 6 different major programs in and around the cit, and there's lots of people who couldn't give two shits about the Sixers who are absolutely slathering rabid followers of Temple, Villanova, or St. Joes.

Ah, take it easy, dude. Considering what everyone thought the Jets' season was going to be like back in, say, October, you had a fantastic run. And anyway, it's not like the Jets are a one-year fluke like the Ravens were a few years ago. They'll be back.Straha wrote:::sobs quietly in a corner::

(p.s. Many thanks for beating the Packers for us and giving us the NFC championship at home)

The Expansion team (Houston Texans) beat the cowgirls this year. Thats pretty pathetic.Pink Eye wrote:The Redskins.
But at least they did better than the Cowgirls this year.
BTW Your avatar is disgusting.
All Niners and Jets fans may now kiss my ass. The one pick I missed actually went into overtime.
Superbowl prediction: Raiders vs Eagles.
