Apple just announced a high end iPod Touch, which is an iPhone without the phone. It still has WiFi and a web browser and every other iPhone feature. $299 for 8 GB and $399 for 16 GB. So you can get a 16 GB iPod Touch or an 8 GB iPhone for the same price.
The iPod has been renamed to iPod Classic, and is thinner with an aluminum casing; now in silver and black, instead of white. That means the white iPod we all know is dead and gone. Same price points of $250 and $350 but instead of 30 and 80 GB they are 80 and 160 GB, and thinner than before. 40 hour battery life when playing music, woah. 7 hours video. That's the 160 GB model.
The iPod Nano is not as long, and thinner, but wider, and with a 320x240 screen capable of playing back video; Apple says it has the greatest pixel density they've ever shipped. 24 hour battery.
iPod Shuffles come in new colors. No price drop, Apple? Weak.
Oh yeah, and the iPhone and iPod Touch both got a new feature; iTunes. You can go on the iTunes Store and buy music.
And iPhone ringtones are $0.99; you have to re-buy music you already have! That's retarded; but since apparently iPhone ringtones are standard MP3's cut down to 30 seconds and placed in a special folder, there's already multiple third-party applications to do it for you, so there's no reason to pay.
The best part of it all? The reaction of people who bought iPhones. Half the MacRumors community is praising Apple and preparing their money to buy the new $200 cheaper iPhones, and the other half of the MR community is screaming bloody murder.
Cool. Can I get my $200 back for beta testing for them?
I'm so ******* pissed off right now...
I feel like I just got punched in the face. Fanboy tax indeed.
Ditto here. I plan to go by the Apple Store later today and raise some serious hell about this.
Well...I feel a bit upset...oh well, thats the "price" of buying the product right away
Screw you Apple, I paid $499 for my 4 gig iPhone less than a month ago. I'm pissed...
******* Apple... I'm so pissed off...
I'm 3 days past the 14-day return period. I want my $200 also. I must say as a first time Apple product buyer, I'm severely disappointed.
For that last guy, I'm rather amused that he bought an iPhone two weeks and three days before he KNEW Apple was going to be holding a conference to make new iPod-related announcements.
I think I might look in to buying a refurb 8 GB iPhone, it should cost around three hundred...especially now that it's been cracked to run on any network.
