That said, wood isn't structurally strong enough to build something as massive as the Ark. That is the reason people couldn't build skyscrapers until the industrial revolutions, and why the Ark can't exist.

I really used to be into the Noah's Ark story when I was about six years old. Even then, I realized that building a vessel that massive wouldn't have been possible.

Oh, and nice avatar, Yoshi. :D

Yet another person saying we need an expedition up there to prove anything.

Could there be something up there? Sure, but it's far more likely to be an ancient structure like a fortress or cabin than a ship. Of course the only way to know is to get up there and document it, something that these claimants seem unwilling to do.
The Turkish Government doesn't allow expeditions up there anymore (wow! ), I think those 1985 where the last, after that, it was only possible through satellite pictures.

Why doesn't the Turkish Government allow expeditions up there? Afraid of Christian fundies entering the country en masse?

No, so they can make a killing on selling their own photos of the area and souvenirs without having others go up and do it.

That, and politics mixing with religion. Anyway, they should let a scientific team up there and end this subject once and for all, the worse that could happen would be a inconclusive analysis, and the fundies would still be happy.

Actually, it was a machine made by God to help bring about evolution and alter weather patterns on the planet.

I saw it on a documentary once called Spriggan I think.

It's more than that. They don't want to fundies to not find it, and accuse the Turks of blasphemy. If tehy can't find a boat several times larger than any wooden boat made, they should make one fo their own.

Hehe, it's actually an animé film with an Indy Jones like feel, though I wouldn't be surprised if the Fundies did adopt this tactic too.

What tactic? Drawing cartoons and then using those cartoons to "prove" their position? There's at least one who already does. His name's Jack Chick. 8)

Yeah, but these cartoons even if animé make more sense. :)

I thought I had heard something about the mountain being one of the more dangerous ones to climb also. I may be thinking of the wrong expedition, though, I only pay minor attention to mountain climbers, even when there are casualties .

Actually, the very worst that could (conceivably) happen is that they find out the fundies were right. And does any of us really want to take that risk? I don't.

And to you, Hathor, me Goa'uld cutie, I say... um... hmm.

It's not possible to discover that the fundies were right, for the simple reason that you can't make a seaworthy 1000 foot long wooden boat. At worst, they might find some pieces of wood, unless there's an elaborate hoax plant.

As I said before, the creationists love to waste time and effort claiming to find the Ark in various places which coincidentally can't be examined, but the challenge remains for them to prove the shipbuilders wrong and make a seaworthy 1000 foot long wooden boat.

Has anyone worked out the volume requirements for two of everything? Assuming evolution is satanic deception,.. we'll need enough space for two of every single species and every sub-species.

I'd also be interested in knowing how much manure the shovelled everyday :)

This is why cretaionists are continually changing the definition of the words 'kind' and 'microevolution'. Ask them which taxonomic level they're actually tlaking about, and they're speechless...
