I, too, couldn't get to SD.net in days, and it wasn't until I flushed my DNS cache that it started working. And, yes, I'm a Comcast user.

Well that was weird. For awhile there, http://bbs.stardestroyer.net wasn't working on my desktop. I went to the secure (https) site and it worked, albeit slowly.

Just to see what would happen, I used my laptop to browse the forum. It worked just fine.

Now I can browse the regular version on my desktop, only it's very slow. It also became equally slow on my laptop, for no apparent reason.

What's weird is that it was working fine when I first started browsing (and was logged in). It was only after I made a long-ish post and went to go view another thread that it suddenly crapped out on me, and became slow later on.

The board was just really slow for me for some reason, but it seems to be back to normal.
A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

I had a few outages at around that time (about an hour ago now), too.

not related to those problems, but I couldn't tell you the last two hours I've been trying to get an unco-operative router to work.

I couldn't get on the board earlier this evening. Other server was up, but not forums. Don't know if it was maintenance or what have you.

J: Probably a bit late for this, but that could be some kind of cross-over issue with your own cache.

Ditto for me. It was around 18:00 or so EST when I tried, and none of the three board links from the main site would work.

Everything seems to be working normally now, however.

I'm getting connection errors. When pages load, they load fast, but there are spells of a few minutes where the board just vanishes. Main site works fine.

I can't get the main site to load at all. I was going to test IE6 on another computer as requested in G&C, but no joy as of about 16:00 EST.

The board itself seems fine (secure, low bandwidth and regular versions).

Just FYI, there was a major power failure here, so everything went down for a while. We've got power again, so hopefully we'll be OK.

System was shut down by UPS daemon at 20:40:42 Eastern Standard Time. System was manually restarted at 22:55:18 Eastern Standard Time. Police officers and fire trucks still in the vicinity, traffic lights are still out but site power is back on. UPS is recharging.

When I read a thread, I can exit by link (not by back-button) to the subforum and the thread will have the white "read" icon by it, and it will have lost the page-and-arrow indicating "new posts". However, now the thread is still marked as unread, even when I've posted in it and refreshed the forum. This has been happening sporadically for a while.

Confirming what Surlethe said. The icon-link to "go to unread posts" does not consistently update. Guessing a server-side caching issue?

That (or a similar error) pops up every time I try to view either the new posts in a thread, or the latest post in a thread. Clicking to a page directly works fine though.

Also, I think all the usernames have been linkified now. It sticks the user's name into the reply box, bolded.

I got the same error Beowolf did a few minutes ago, and I suspect I'll get it for this post too. (edit- I didn't, until I tried to view the topic. Refreshing the page doesn't work; I had to go back to the forum then click on the topic to view it.)

I just got that, for some reason. And, just to say me too, the names are indeed Linkified now.

Edit: Woops, sorry, didn't realise that had already been posted, heh.

I fixed it. The problem was a missing space, just before the "ORDER BY" portion of the SQL query.
