Star Wars Manga

Post by Warsie »

Anyone have these: I have all of the OT Mangas.

Does anyone know if they plan to make Mangas for Episode 2 and 3?

Here's some information. These are the Mangas for Episodes 4,5,6 and 1.

Some people made some other Mangas recently; Tokyopop did. One of the guys who made the Mangas for ROTJ I think also made some of these here.

They provide an interesting new perspective o the battles; especially the Battle of Endor

Maybe this just got overlooked; maybe the people who frequent this forum aren't interested in manga. I definitely fall into the latter category.

I remember those. Im an anime and manga fan, but unfortunatly my experience with the Star Wars ones wasnt that great. Granted I only briefly flipped through a few of them once or twice at a comic shop but I didnt find them all that appealing as manga. I had an expectation built up after learning about them and then when I actually saw them it was like "oh... they did it that way? meh." I wouldnt call them horrible, but they are not really what im looking for in terms of a Manga version of Star Wars.

damn.....well still friends 8)

And you don't lread manga adaptations of movies? k Lord Martiya

and Icehawk, you should've looked at the Battle of Endor comics at least; those had noticeable differences (say; like where Executor crashed into the DSII at, etc.

I've read a bit of the "Return of the Jedi" manga...it was interesting, to say the least. I liked the portrayal of saber-fighting, Han Solo and Lando...but there was something very bizarre about seeing expressions on Darth Vader's mask.

I think the "kawaii" factor fell flat on me.

That could only be more excellent if R2 activated his jets in the next panel and flew around in circles, hacking at Vader from above.

See the second link in the original post.

"Nakatsuka pits the droid duo C-3PO and R2-D2 against Darth Vader; the golden droid learns the horrible truth of his parentage, while Artoo battles the Dark Lord in a lightsaber duel no one ever expected to see."

I don't own any of the Star Wars manga but there is one page from ANH that I loved. It was a shot from Luke's perspective flying down the trench with a gorgeous shot of all the stars in the sky along with an outline of Vader saying "The Force is strong with this one."

heh...I just whipped out ANH Manga #4 and looked it; found it in less than 3 secs; I basically opened the book and found it...unfortunately my camera is elsewhere so I can't upload it.

EDIT: Went to use scanner; uploading on del.icio.us.

EDIT 1.5: Well it took 2 tries as I couldn't find the file first; had to scan it again

EDIT 2: del.icio.us not working.

EDIT 3: Trying imageshack...

EDIT 4: turn it around and shit...

Those pocket Manga books that have been popping up recently do seem pretty dreadful, but I have all six volumes of Akira sitting proudly on my shelf and it is one of the best comic book serials of all time (I can't be arsed with the movie spin-off).

And some of the Star Wars manga is pretty good and much better than the fairly dreary Marvel comics from the 1970s and 80s..

Personally, I liked Leia's hair in the ANH manga, although I may commandeer that ROTJ cover for a future avatar. Heh, she's got fangs.

It's too bad I never had a chance to read the ESB and ROTJ manga though.

The ESB manga was pretty good but the ROTJ was slightly rum, with too many hard and ragged edges to the artwork.
