Why Do you get "hot" and "cold" if your
A question I am currently personally fermilar with.
Within the past day I've gone from feeling so cold, I've put on sweat pants and sug bello two layers of heavy blankets, to feeling so hot I've shucked practiclly everything and turned on the fan in my room.
Keep in mind I live in Phoenix Az and it was 112 yesterday, so the fact I was "feeling" cold at all should be a bit wacky.
Why does this happen? What goes on in our bodies to cause these wild changes in internal temprature.

any number of things, but off the top of my head...anything that fucks with your circulation. Stress can affect that pretty bad, as do drugs and other such things.
Metabolism could be another one, as could your hydration level.

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Ah, in that case; all the above plus your body will try to fry the bugs in you by ramping up the heat (fever). When that breaks or your body thinks it's done it's job, you can feel cold. Plus, usually when your sick, you may or may not eat much with screws with your metabolism plus the afore mentioned drugs etc...Crossroads Inc. wrote:Bugger, the thread title should end "If you are SICK" not just "if your" Thats not how its spelt anyways.. bah,
Pysiologically though, you're looking at the fever that'll do most of what you describe.

When it breaks, you sweat a bunch, which evaporates off all that extra heat you built up. That heat leaving your body is the sensation of "coldness". It's really the same reason you feel "cold" when you step into a chilly room: heat going from your body to the room.Knife wrote:Ah, in that case; all the above plus your body will try to fry the bugs in you by ramping up the heat (fever). A Government founded upon justice, and recognizing the equal rights of all men; claiming higher authority for existence, or sanction for its laws, that nature, reason, and the regularly ascertained will of the people; steadily refusing to put its sword and purse in the service of any religious creed or family is a standing offense to most of the Governments of the world, and to some narrow and bigoted people among ourselves.

Well, when it breaks quickly like that, yeah. Which usually means meds of some sort. If not, the body can ramp down quite slowly, hours, and while you're not fevorish, you're still hot and retain the heat...well really keep making it not retaining it.Surlethe wrote: When it breaks, you sweat a bunch, which evaporates off all that extra heat you built up. But yeah, if the fever breaks quick, it'll leave you cold. It's really the same concept of drink hot coffee on a hot day to up your temp. It'll make you feel colder in the heat, but backwards.

If you're running a fever, blame your brain. What its doing is that when your body feels the need to retch up your internal temp a notch, your hypothalamus sends a signal that you're feeling cold, so, you shiver. When it reaches(or usually, exceeds) your preset temp, the equillibrium swings in the opposite direction and you feel cold, turning on your mechanisms to dump heat. Which switches back to below preset, causing heat generation mechanisms to turn on again.

Well now that im all better, I have to say its still wierd what a Sick body will do to you. The Pattern of 'hot cold' basiclly went:
Sat: Felt Sick
Sun: Felt Sick and Cold.
Mon: Felt Sick and Feezing.
Tue: Felt Burnning.
Wed: All better.
