Draka what if
If, during the Cold War period circa 1982 between the Grand Alliance and the Domination of Draka, the Alliance had received the full blueprints and schematics for Airwolf, would this have any effect on later events?

For Airwolf to have an effect on the later wars, the Alliance must use its stealth capabilities to completely and utterly destroy the Draka's ability to manufacture biological weapons-- after all, it was the use of an engineered virus that allowed the Draka to be victorious.
Honestly, I doubt even Airwolf can perform the necessary task. What would really help the Alliance would be if they had early warning of the Stone Dogs, and the ability to mass produce a vaccine for the virus.

Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.
Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.
They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

I was thinking more along the lines of mass-produced units, but your points do remind me of certain episodes from the series.Sidewinder wrote:For Airwolf to have an effect on the later wars, the Alliance must use its stealth capabilities to completely and utterly destroy the Draka's ability to manufacture biological weapons-- after all, it was the use of an engineered virus that allowed the Draka to be victorious.

Actually, if enough of them are prepositioned to take apart the Snakes' defenses, there won't be enough left of the Draka to really make a go of keeping the Earth in a semi-intact state. Remember even after winning the war and having essentially uncontested near-Earth space superiority, they were talking about decades to effectively suppress resistance in individual areas. Hell, if the stealth tech is sufficiently adaptable, slap it on the nukes. Even if the Draka torch the planet, the Alliance still wins, being able to colonise another.
Bear in mind this is said with absolutely no idea about what said tech actually does.

You say that, though, as if the Alliance for Democracy were mentally capable of launching a massive, overwhelming first strike with their fancy new technology the Draka can't counter yet.
However, it's been proven TIME and TIME again that they WON'T do that. Instead, they will show off their fancy new technology onesies-twosies.
Their supersonic bomber, with which they could have built up a fleet of and nuked the Draka out of existance? No, they show it off to the Draka by using it to noisily insert a covert (*snort*) agent into Finland (Whose ultimate destination was France, ). Thus the Draka know the performance of the new Alliance superbomber, and can prepare defenses to counter it.
Antimatter. Their superstarship America was powered by Antimatter, and so were its parasite-ships. It was STATED at the end of The Stone Dogs that America and her parasite-ships were more than a match for the remaining Draka space forces. Why didn't they turn around and move into space near Earth, and stomp the entire Draka navy before introducing Africa and Eurasia to antimatter fire? No, instead, they fly away to Alpha Centauri, all the whole making sure the Draka get a goooood look at their antimatter-powered ships, making sure the Draka know it can be done.
And Moleholes? The Alliance (now known as Samothrace) had complete mastery of Molehole technology. I see zero reason why they couldn't molehole in massive waves of antimatter-tipped missiles at the LaGrange Points (to avoid any funky gravity effects) to scorch Earth in one ENORMOUS first-strike, and win the war on the spot. Instead, they molehole in a single agent to save an alternate universe's Earth, and, IIRC, this AGAIN lets the Draka get a peek at more info on Molehole tech. Then, when they DO launch their 'grand offensive' against Earth... they're moleholing in warships, outside of Pluto's orbit. Something the Drakian navy is more than capable of dealing with conventionally.

Urf, pressed "submit" instead of "Preview".
In any case, Airwolf will be used in the exact same way. A single Airwolf darts into Draka territory to do something. I dunno, maybe they'll be charismatically blowing up some component of some Draka superweapon research. They probably get the Airwolf blown up anyhow in the process, but our Heroic Heroes escape via alternate method, giving the Draka the wreckage to look at and copy or devise a countermeasure to.

It's stated in Drakon that being any closer than that causes a time slip instead of travel. Which is why the cruiser observing them has to go back out after launching LaFarge so it can report back.KlavoHunter wrote:

IIRC, it was a function of gravity affecting the molehole creation - therefore, do it at the LaGrange Points.xammer99 wrote:It's stated in Drakon that being any closer than that causes a time slip instead of travel. I'll pick my copy up and flip through it when I get home to check and make sure.

I guess I should thank God I've never read a Draka novel, if the Alliance's military leadership is that damn retarded.KlavoHunter wrote:You say that, though, as if the Alliance for Democracy were mentally capable of launching a massive, overwhelming first strike with their fancy new technology the Draka can't counter yet.

No, the Alliance's politicians were retarded. Like most all politicians.Sidewinder wrote:I guess I should thank God I've never read a Draka novel, if the Alliance's military leadership is that damn retarded.KlavoHunter wrote:You say that, though, as if the Alliance for Democracy were mentally capable of launching a massive, overwhelming first strike with their fancy new technology the Draka can't counter yet.

The Alliance are victims of the Draka's universe-wide character shield.
Manic Progressive: A liberal who violently swings from anger at politicos to despondency over them.
Out Of Context theatre: Ron Paul has repeatedly said he's not a racist. - Destructinator XIII on why Ron Paul isn't racist.

The only way any of the Draka books make any sense is if you fully understand and accept that the Draka must win so any amount of stupidity is considered too much by Stirling when writing the story.
The Draka have huge industry for no reason, they innovate for no reason, no one ever attacks them for no reason, the Alliance is full of complete morons for no reason.
The books are complete and utter crap.
