I "walked" into this thread with the basic idea that being a cockbag isn't illegal or worth tasering, but after watching that longer video, I can see using it to contain that behavior.

The taser has definitely become an abused solve all situation.

Pigs seem to use the "less dangerous" factor of tasers to just use them instead of the tried and true method of actually talking to people.

Oh please. Tasers are very useful for situations just like that.

That maniac gets on the microphone, filibusters with his series of questions, resists when police tell him to back down, then gets tasered. I know seeing police use equipment that lets them take someone down without getting roughed up themselves gets your panties in a wad, but in real life they did nothing wrong.

They tried talking to that asshole, but he kept yelling over them and made a bigger douche out himself.

The guy was being disruptive. I wouldn't have listened to Kerry either.

Yeah, I made that post yesterday, when judging from one video I mistakenly thought that the cops just grabbed him for being a loudmouth instead of for rushing the mike. But the more I follow up on the story today, the more it seems like Meyer's just an attention whore. He successfully goaded the police into doing exactly what he needed them to do for his tape.

I did and I don't see why the TASER was necessary. I totally understand why they dragged him out because the guy was obviousely being a disruptive twat, but they had 4+ officers holding him down.

Continuing to resist arrest after repeated attempts to politely remove him or have him calm down usually calls for stepping things up a bit.

Is there an actual video of him rushing the mic? All I've seen are ones of him actually at the mic, with written accounts saying he jumped the line (CNN says he jumped it, then waited his turn when Kerry said he'd eventually answer his question.)

It was necessary because it was their job to remove him and remove him as safely (for him and them and everyone else there) as possible. Since it took six cops two minutes to move him ten feet cause the little shit was resisting all over the place, they tased his ass into submission.

Actually wrestling someone into submission who really fucking doesn't want to is a tough job, even with numerical superiority.

Drag him out of the room, close the door and throw him in the back of a squad car? There were at least 4 cops all practically on top of the guy. He was cuffed. He was already subdued. Yeah, he was yelling and screaming, but how is that anything new and interesting? Perps yell and scream when they're being dragged out in cuffs all the time.

Yeah, pretty much what I'd have done. If he continued not to comply once outside, hit him with pepperspray.

How is pepperspray not as bad as tasers? It's not as if the active ingredient in the spray is going to stop burning after you stop spraying him.

Uhm, how was he subdued? He was sort of subdued on the floor with four cops sitting on him. But don't you think maybe when the cops get up to take him to the car they'll loose their leverage? He'll still be able to resist just like he did every time he was on his feet.

It's one thing to get a person on the ground so you can control him, it's another to get them up and lose all the advantages so you can move them. Again, they had to think of the kids safty, their safty and the safty of all the bystanders. A flailing kid being carried out is as apt to hurt the cops or some one who gets too close as he is to hurt himself..

It doesn't have 2 prongs that lodge under your skin requiring EMS to remove them. I also don't recall pepper spray being sold to the public as something that would only be used when the suspect would otherwise be shot.

As an aside, don't TASERs have an option for direct contact discharges, where the prongs aren't launched into the suspects skin? I wouldn't have a problem with those being used to gain compliance.

If four people sat on me while I was handcuffed, I'd sure as hell count myself as subdued. I might scream and carry on or maybe try flailing around a little, but I sure as shit wouldn't get anywhere.

When he resisted before, he wasn't in handcuffs.

That's what the handcuffs are for. Have two officers grab his arms and drag him out. If his feet were kicking around, then cuff his damn ankles. Or have the other two officers restrain his legs and carry him out like a deer carcass. Not hard. And one of the officers was a pretty damn big guy who looked like he belonged on the Chicago Bears' defensive line. I doubt he would've had too much trouble.

If you honestly think that one big guy would be insufficient to safely eject you from a premises, I suggest you go to your local night club and get in a bouncer's face. If he himself can't get you out, one of his buddies will help, and you'll be out on your ass in no time flat. And you won't have been tazed.

And on an unrelated note, it's "lose", not "loose". "Loose" refers to the state of not being tight. "Lose" refers to something being taken away or disappearing.
