computer rebooting....

Post by Enigma »

My wife's computer is constantly rebooting and one message she got said that there may have been a hardware change even though no hardware has been installed since I gave her the computer. What would be the reason for the reboots?

Is it rebooting at random? If so, it's probably overheating.
Is the message about a hardware change from a blue screen?

It started when she put in the Sims2 CD and instead of autoloading, the computer rebooted and kept on afterwards. it would rebootif you try to access XP. System Restore doesn't help. I asked her to let it cool down for at least half an hour but it would still reboot if she tried to get to XP. The only error message she told me was that XP said that there was a change in the hardware configuration despite no tampering made.
