When I start getting bored just making kills from afar and then start making kills up close... with my sniper rifle... I feel dirty. :twisted:

The sniper rifle has perfect accuracy even up close, so it's not awful, though it's just uncharged power. The lack of a crosshair can be made up for with a little stickydot on the center of your monitor. :D

I was quite specific about it being cloak they couldn't use the sapper in for a reason. I know they can still place them while disguised but it's an instant tip-off and I have a gun out the second anyone comes near my sentry and since spies die damn easily once you open up on them they tend to die sooner since they get shot at least once before they get within sapper range and shot to death if they actually use the sapper (since as I said spies are easily thwarted through paranoia). If you're hanging out near your sentry it's quite easy to kill the spy and smack the sapper off before the sentry goes down unless they're working in close concert with additional backup.

Of course I also managed to use that to kill four spies last night on 2 fort by setting up a sentry gun in the corner of the room the spawn exits into and then waiting in that little room that leads to the ramp down into the base's guts. Spy runs up to sapper the apparently unattended sentry and then gets a load of buckshot in the back.

I racked up even more as a pyro playing bodyguard to the sentry of another engy by burninating everyone who came near it.

Also am I the only one who finds it odd that the pyro is in the offensive classes while the heavy is on the defensive ones? I see heavies acting as a spearhead for an assault far more than I see them defending and vice versa for the pyros who want to be in defense so they can ambush you at point blank with the flamethrower.

This is, perhaps, the downside of building all your stuff in close proximity to one another. I know everyone *loves* to place the dispencer next to the turret, but thats the risk you take.

Yes but I'm not quite willing to place a stickydot on my monitor just for that. I make a rough guess or use my other weapon to find the crosshair and then switch to my sniper rifle just before firing.

I didn't really like the stylized look originally but now I'm really starting to warm up to it. The whole scenario of the game is comically retarded and the look actually fits it.

Has anyone else noticed what kind of Murderbots on Crack scouts are? Seriously they have the same amount of heath as engineers, can one-shot all light classes with that scattergun and are FAST. The games I played last night featured a scout on both teams in the top spot. They would simply run around targeting the slower classes, HWG's would rip them a new one but, Snipers, spies, Soldiers, Demo-guys, Pyros's all went down in two shots or less from that scatter gun.

If you really want to have fun as the spy then join a server where friendly fire is on. I stumbled across such a server and it was madness. The only way to stop a spy was after they had made their move, because otherwise you ended up shooting random innocent team mates to death half the time. Both teams descended into utter paranoia and barely left their bases (except for the constant back and forth stream of spies, of course).

I find the trick to dealing with rampaging scouts is to either lure them into a large group of team mates where they have trouble dodging or try and keep them out of range long enough they empty their scatter gun; most scouts, rather than retreat, will then start firing single shots between reloads which is far less dangerous.

I can imagine. with FF off, you can detect spies easily enough by putting a couple of loads of buckshot into any friendly you see who isn't shooting. That wouldn't be as appreciated with FF on. ;)
