Beauty and the Geek

Post by kheegster »

A friend of mine, Joshua G., is on the new season of the Beauty and the Geek. The season premiere can be watched online...

He's probably the geekiest person I've ever met, and he might just make it as the new William Hung.

And here is a cellphone video of him that I recorded earlier this year:

Watching beauty & the geek is a guilty pleasure of mine. Maybe because I'm a geek trapped in a beautiful body :P

Why would I want to watch Beauty and the Geek when I lived it? :P

Actually, I don't look geeky, so I guess that doesn't entirely apply.

Bingo. You're pretty much what happens when a geek brain has a jock body and good social grace: a life consisting solely of a continuous string of Epic Win. Good STR + great DEX + awesome INT + massive CHA = Pwnage.

Geeks can be really sexy in their own way, too, Mike. You just got it both ways.

And the counterpoint: This is what happens with the opposite situation, a geek with slightly nerfed INT and massively nerfed CHA. Ouch.

I've never watched it and I highly suspect it will make me cringe. :P I would totally go on it, though.

I think a couple of the geeks on the show would be reasonably attractive if they put some effort into appearance and avoided acting like a total dork.

My friend Joshua, on the other hand, is a geek in every possible way, has the social skills of a wooden box AND enjoys dancing despite resembling C3PO hit by an ion blaster while doing so.

The highlight of the first episode was a scene where he has to introduce himself to a room full of the bimbos. He ends up calling up his Mom and putting her on speakerphone so that she can describe how nice he is.

Friend of mine from college was on the second season of Beauty and the Geek. He seemed to enjoy it, despite having his unibrow threatened with tweezers. Apparently the girls on there are really that dumb, though. I thought they were hamming it up a bit.

Oh dear...he could definitely use a little help there...

I actually did know a few people just like him when I was in Princeton, one of them, strangely enough was a member of the men's swim team. He was ok around the guys, but as soon as a female came anywhere near him he'd literally go stiff complete with the deer in the headlights look. It took me months to get a simple "hi" out of him. It took him years to learn how to associate with women without going stiff and having a nervous breakdown.

If I were single, I'd totally sign up for this show. I can pass as a complete dork if needed, I even look like one, and then somewhere along the line I'll drop the act and turn on the mojo. I'll score all the hot chicks and have group orgies every day. 8)

Lusankya: Deal!
Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

I was really quite surprised that they didn't have more ringers on the show, attractive girls acting dumb and intelligent guys acting clueless to just get onto the show.

It would be tempting to give it a go, but I imagine I would get outted pretty quickly.

I've never quite understood that geek sterotype thing; I mean, all my male (and a few female) friends are geeks of the highest order, and none of them look like geeks. I mean, with some baggy plaid and thick lensed glasses you could probably pass one one of us off like that, but still ...

I'd ask if people like this actually exist, but then I remember that I recently posted the poster for the second annual Furries versus Klingons bowling tournament.

I'm a geek...but I also have wicked charisma and no fear of talking to people I'm attracted to...so while it may be fun to go on that show, I'm a rather horrible fit for it.

...and considering how vapid a lot of those women looked from the brief bits I have seen, I'd likely lose interest in them within the first thirty minutes.

So after 1 1/2 year of unemployment, he told me last week that he finally got a job just to the north of DC. I shouldn't say in a public forum what job it is, but let's just say it took 6 months for him to get a security clearance and a mysterious man coming to interview all his friends.

I didn't really expect him to get the job after being on national TV.
