I mostly run a BElfadin at the moment. That's thanks to a cute redhead at the local game store running a BElf priest on the same server, though .
I'm working on Prot spec for the shield skills. My cube mate runs a Dwarven paladin, and has been able to solo three elite mobs three levels above him simultaneously through use of Sanctuary and being fairly well-geared. It's not pretty, but it works, and in testing it held aggro well.

Being a raid-specced lock is the easy man's game. Occasionally I have to throw a banish here or there, or enslave on Maglar, but other than that, it gets pretty boring spamming shadowbolts waiting for dots to tick down, with an occasional soulshatter. And the dps is always good, especially if I have a shadowpriest with me.
I just find rep grinding so goddamn tedious, I haven't gotten keyed for many heroics yet (I guess that makes me WoW-stupid because I don't want to run Shattered Halls a million fucking times just so I can run it again on Heroic?)

Blizzard doesn't delete characters with name issues. They just force a rename.
I know this for a fact as several characters in my guild have been renamed.

technically an idiot hunter (a hunter who is retard), but I think Pounder is implying that all hunters are total idiots who couldn't tell their ass from a hole in the ground (alot of hunters are that way but there are few good ones too).Molyneux wrote:What the hell is a "huntard"?Lord Pounder wrote:If you want to go the huntard route I'd recomment an Orc, bonus damage with an axe, ranged and pet IIRC.

The Huntard is more applied to the Gold Farmers who use it because the class is at first glance a ranged Rogue with good armor.Molyneux wrote:...of course, I must now create a hunter and play him as intelligently as possible.Lord Revan wrote:technically an idiot hunter (a hunter who is retard), but I think Pounder is implying that all hunters are total idiots who couldn't tell their ass from a hole in the ground (alot of hunters are that way but there are few good ones too).Molyneux wrote: What the hell is a "huntard"?
The real problem behind the Hunter and why it's so damned easy is on the surface the class is so dumbed down. It's a pet class with a pet that can be monstrously powerful, and in some sick way doesn't even need it, because many abilities even early on are powerful.
This all changes when you enter raiding, the hunter becomes glaring in a few weak points because you now have to deal with something you never do any other time in the game. Shot rotation. You have to precisely time your abilities between the auto shot variables and figure when to shoot what, when for maximum effect.
As for PvP...line of sight is your worst nightmare and what will kill all but the best of them. I know...god knows how much I exploit this when I see a team with a hunter on it.

Let's not forget the "Every weapon is a hunter weapon!" philosophy, or the sheer number of ways hunters can screw up a party. Pets set to aggressive. Forgetting to dismiss pets before jumping down to the Rend event in UBRS. Running *past* the current fight into a patrol path then stopping, turning around, and shooting in a 5-man. Forgetting to buy ammunition before entering a dungeon. Forgetting to bring pet food.Ghost Rider wrote: The Huntard is more applied to the Gold Farmers who use it because the class is at first glance a ranged Rogue with good armor.

And, of course, "Feign Death," which not only allows hunters to commit acts of unforgivable stupidity and survive them--unlike the rest of their party--but occasionally wipe the raid *twice* by feigning death while too close to the boss and standing back up after the priest/shaman/whatever soulstones or ankhs.
I've seen some very well-played, very intelligent hunters. The problem is they're overshadowed by the stupid and/or greedy ones.

You do realise though, that all end game raiding for DPS classes is pretty much ... boring?NeoGoomba wrote:Being a raid-specced lock is the easy man's game. Frost Mage
Summon Water Elemental
Coldsnap
Frost Bolt X 17 (I think)
Summon Water Elemental
Frost Bolt X 49 (or something)
Sumon Water Elemental ...
Well you get the idea.
Fire Mage
Scorch, Fireball Rotation. Standard.
Arcane Mage (when you get the 2 piece T5 bonus you will be Arcane)
Arcane Blast x 3
Arcane Missiles x 2
Arcane Blast x 3
Arcane Missiles x 2 ...
Repeat
Destruction Warlock
Sacrifice Pet of Choice (for long mana intensive boss fights, Felpuppy is just awesome)
Curse of Doom/Elements (what ever)
Sadowbolt spam ...
Oh and no matter what anybody says, end game raiding as Destructin (0/21/40) it is Shadow and not Fire. Shadowbolt just scales insanely better with + spell damage than Incinerate due to it being a 3 sec cast nuke (prior to Bane) and Incinerate being a 2.5 sec cast so it's spell coefficients are less.

Errr ... yes and no. Rogues and Warriors can use guns, but they use them to 'pull' a mob, not to grind on one, i.e. auto shoot, where as a Hunter can compliment the auto shoot with his spells to give shots different affects. Something to look forward to; Hunters are getting a dispel AND a mortal strike with their shots ... joy!Molyneux wrote:They're the only class that can use guns as well, aren't they?
EDIT :: Oh, and patch 2.3 notes are up, 30% less XP required for each level, level 20 to 60 and bonus XP (IIRC 30%) for each quest turned in for those levels, so all those who are re-rolling or leveling alts, rejoice!

Like Crown said, Warriors and Rogues can use them, but mostly used for pulling.Molyneux wrote:They're the only class that can use guns as well, aren't they?Jaevric wrote:Let's not forget the "Every weapon is a hunter weapon!" philosophy, or the sheer number of ways hunters can screw up a party. As for everything being Hunter equipment, that is for the stupid. I've kicked so many out of groups, but then again I've done it for nearly every class...Hunters are just more noted for screeching because they can use most weapons AND wear Mail/Leather/Cloth. Course when you've seen moronic Fury, Huntards are not the worst.
And in 2.3 Arcane shot(level 6 and beyond) will dispel an effect and there are rumors (which depends on Blizz's mood) will garner a MS shot. Which will then make then the terror of the Arena.
To put it this way. Rogues can do it, but it can be dispelled and to be honest...Rogues in the high end Arena are chow. Not enough HP or damage. Warriors are there for one reason...MORTAL STRIKE, because Mages and Warlocks are better burst DPS. So to give Hunters the warrior reason is going to be hilarious, because you can still use the warrior as the target, but with a ranged MS...it will fuck over so many healing rotations and healers to deal with it. Add to Arcane dispelling shit? Fucking A, it will be nuts.
Funnily enough I have a twinked level 60 hunter in the wings .

Let's not forget my personal favourite; Multi Shot when we have one mob polymorphed and another seduced ... do you know how freaking difficult it is to manage a seduced mob?*Jaevric wrote:Let's not forget the "Every weapon is a hunter weapon!" philosophy, or the sheer number of ways hunters can screw up a party. But yeah, seriously the most common one (and the one that sets off the most alarm bells) is halfway through the instance; I'm out of arrows ...
EDIT :: *The thing with Seduce is that;
- My SexyBust only has a limited amount of mana pool.
- The damn wench has a mind of her own.
- She can be one shotted by any dungeon mob (well heroic for sure, she might survive a normal one).
- Seduce is a channeled spell, so unlike polymorph I can't re-seduce before the first seduce breaks.
- And she doesn't get any of my + spell hit which is just fucking STUPID.

Yeah but when you are decked with "Of Bandit" items and have enchants from only Outland, I am outdoing all but the very best of Tier 3 of the old era. The fun one has in a WSG when they seen some Dranei hunter plinking off mages from 41 yards and they sit there in awe as it takes 4 people to kill me .Crown wrote:Ghost Rider wrote:Funnily enough I have a twinked level 60 hunter in the wings .

Even though, I should say, end game raiding is TEDIOUS more than boring, as there will be a bitchfest during the loot distribution on at least one boss. And goddamn, nerd rage is even more infuriating to suffer through when you're just listening to 16 year olds bitch and moan on vent.
Not to mention waiting for idiots to respec AT raid time, or fools not bringing enough reagents or pots. Fuck raids, but sadly, its the only way to see end game content.

I got my kicks by killing the Frost mage who pulled aggro off the tank, Iceblocked, the Boss comes to me, the Mage comes out of Iceblock, I Soulshatter and BAM! Another one of my favorites with mages; I start spamming Shadow Bolt rank 2 early on, before the tank has got his aggro up (3 sunders), just so I can get the Improved Shadow Bolt debuff up there early, the Mage sees me nuking, get's confused; Arcane Power, Trinket, Fireball, Wipe! BWWWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Or, by putting Curse of Shadows up when we have Shadow Priests with us, that didn't know that my shadow de-buffs stacked with his, so his damage goes up and so does his aggro. Seriously, I had to AFK for 3 mins because I couldn't stop laughing at what I imagined the expression on his face was when he kept dieing on trash pulls when I had Curse of Shadows and my Improved Shadow Bolt proc'd (and I was a Guild Officer, can you believe that)!

So far my faves are staring way back in MC:
Baron Geddon:
"Ummm, guys, the bomb...what the fuc...oh fuck."
BWL:
Nefarion: Priest call, Nef ripping into me.
"Aren't our only two druids dead?"
Naxx:
"You did say PULL Patchwerk?"
I've haven't had that much insanity in TBC, but there have been some "Dammit man, stop pulling from the tank...fuck, he's not getting the goddamn Illidan blades...he has enough haste."

Pulls going wrong would have to be my favorite. Our main tank was just awesome in that regard, one time, he charged a pat that had respawned (by accident) whlie we were on Matron in Kara, when we were all in position around the Matron, good times.Ghost Rider wrote:

When we all corpse ran back, re-buffing etc. he asks me for a new Healthstone (I had matron targeted at the time) and rather than pressing 'Shift B' to open my bags, I accidentally pressed the hotkey for Siphon Life ... you should have HEARD the guild chat on that one, but he was such a stand up guy, he said he did it (don't ask me how), we called it a night on that raid, but the /whispering back and forth and the /officers chat that night was just magic.
I'm so saddened that that guild broke up, it's why I've retired that character. Just couldn't get the 'magic' back with other people, you know?
