I read the plant thing, and my mind was substituting in "women" and "rape" for "plant" and "water". It was just a parody, and I was already getting angry. I'll be sure to avoid these books unless we're out of kindling.

I have never had the misfortune to read a Gor novel, but from what I've heard, it sounds an awful lot like the society of early Indo-European nomads (4000-3000 BC), only with the exception that men ride eagles instead of horses.
