I've always wondered how the war would have went had it started 4 years later than it actually did.
It would be an interresting timeline. Unfortunately it´s complete unrealistically. Hitler was an insane fanatic who attacked at the first possibilty - after a few years of preparation. AFAIK he was very upset that he could not start the war in 1938 when he occupied the Czech republic. France and England were to cowardly to start the war then.

The Maus is actually cool. And I like the name 'mouse' for such a heavy beast. A lot of German engineering projects were quite cool, but of course most were a waste of ressources. However, you can see what happens if you let engineers do everything they want.

Now, who could hate a country that brought us our first assault rifle.... :D

Image

Operation: Gas operated, tipping bolt, closed bolt.
Caliber: 7.92mm Kurzpatrone
Muzzle velocity: 685 m/s (2055 fps).
Capacity: 30 rd magazine
Weight: 4.62kg (10.1 lb.)
Overall length: 94 cm (3 ft 1 in.)
Rate of fire: 500-600 rpm, cyclic.
Effective range: 300m (330 yd)
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Hmm...the resemblance to the AK-47 is rather suspicious...

There are those who say Klasnikov (however his name is spelled) copied the AK-47 off the StG44, but he flatly refuses such accusations, of course :D.

Only a blithering idiot without the faintest understanding of how these two guns work would ever accuse Kalashnikov of copying the StG-44. The AK-47 operates from a different mechanical principle from the German gun, and is in almost every respect a superior weapon.

That's me. :D

Sorry, I don't know nuts about guns...just commenting on the resemblance.
