Well, are we ready to wrap this one up and declare Kingside the winner, or is there still more left to do? It doesn't look like the Eris will be able to stop my conquest now that I'm using drones, so that's starting to lose it's excitement, and I don't really see any other likely matchups that will get anyone's blood flowing. I suppose we could all team up on the Rhak'Thallians, but I feel like that would get old fairly quickly. Still, if people want to keep playing, I'll keep submitting and running the turns. What does everyone think?

If we do decide to call it a game, should we start another one right away, or give SE V a break for a couple of months?

I'm totally down with quitting. I've simply been downloading the turn, and checking on my research progress here and again -- at this point, I'm just looking at the new toys I'm getting. The roleplay died long ago, my friends, cool though it was.

As for another game, I'd be up for one. I've been working on a mod that's complete now -- I was about to release it. The premise is this: there's only one system. All of us, crammed in one (large) star system, with ship speeds cut in half. It'd be very political from the beginning, with alliances, etc.

It'd be a nice jumpstart, at any rate. But I'd be down for anything...

There's also my DJAS mod and the new mod from Devnucllicus to consider, as well.

Yeah, I guess the game's sputtered out. I was looking forward to a brawl with the Feds but since Brian's stopped playing, there really isn't any point.

Anyway, I'm up for another game. Perhaps we should keep the number of players fairly small, though, to avoid the large number of dropouts that we had in this one?

I'm eager to start a new game -- one where I'm involved from the beginning and (preferably) no longer getting my ass handed to me! :(

I've been eager to play Kingside's mod for a while now. It's roleplay intensive and doesn't lend itself to the sort of superpower-buildup that seems to have described this game.

I'd be interested in joining a new game. I'm a huge fan of SE:V, except I don't have anyone to play it with, and I have no idea how to play by web, so someone's gonna have to explain that to me. :?

Also, telling me where I can download whatever mods we will be using would be helpful.

I'm willing to scrap this game in favour of a new one. No way in hell am I ever taking Low Reproduction again.

Sounds like we've reached a consensus, then. I'll take the game down.

I agree. Also a smaller map would be helpful. Maybe even a game where every sector is visible. It would be a very different game, and probably more realistic, too, since you can't exactly stack a fleet on a warp point in a galaxy with trade ships flitting about here and there without everyone knowing about it.

Play by Web is easy. You just signup at seiv.pbw.cc and join the game. From there you can download each turn, play it, and then upload your .plr file that contains your moves and orders. The host runs the turn (or the pbw server runs it if nobody's using a custom shipset or an unsupported mod) and the process starts all over. Whoever hosts will probably make a .zip file containing all the files you'll need like I did for this game.

I wouldn't mind starting out with some tech points to distribute to help get the game going a bit quicker, whichever mod we use.

I have to agree with Luke Starkiller there, but I'm up for whatever, really. It'll just be fun to actually play SE:V against other people instead of just the AI. Or my little brother, who somehow manages to play worse than the AI.

Not to mention that I can get him to do anything I want in the game by threatening to detonate the star in his most populated solar system. Which is kind of funny.

I think medium or high starting tech is a must for the next game.

Why don't we just play another Balance Mod game? That's not too drastic a departure, would be easiest to jump into, and would attract more players. Mostly, I think a smaller galaxy, with lots more starting tech, would be a much more exciting game.

How about a small galaxy Balance Mod game with low tech cost and medium starting technology?

@SilverWingedSeraph: the Balance Mod can be downloaded here: http://www.captainkwok.net/balancemod.php. It's really sweet -- fixes all of the little insanities of the game, and balances a bunch of the various technologies out.

Heh, already have this. It's the only Space Empires V mod that I've actually downloaded...
