Wonder why he's not back to comment? Looks like when Asshole doesn't have a badge and uniform to intimidate others with, he's a big pussy.

Is that the only possibility you were able to come up with?

Can We just chillax? It may have been just tough talk. Texans are notoriously proud of their flags, and it may be a simple matter of an emotional outburst.

Death from the Sea wrote:Apparently a business in Reno was flying the Mexico flag over the US flag, which is illegal (or at least that is what EVERYONE says), and a veteran took the initiative and cut it down.

I see this often around my city and I take corrective action in the form of making the business owner fix it. I don't know the specific law but I always BS them with the old "it is a Federal Law, so breaking that is an automatic felony" and they fix it so fast your head spins.

Anyone know what the law is and where you can find it?
In Illinois it is a state law atleast

If he's lying about being a police officer, he's a liar. If he's honest, he's not very competent and abuses his power, and he's an asshole. I didn't know such a person deserves much in the way of respect. My bad.

So, are you implying that it is tragic that he isn't aware of the all the laws in the nation, and in doing so implying that police should be aware of all the nations laws?

If so, then how do you justify this when not even lawyers know all the laws in the nation which is why each individual state has its own responsibilities, and the Feds have their own.

Maybe I'm misreading you.

Seems like a trained sworn peace office should at least know where to look, when he's researching the law. Rather than go a-beggin' for guidance, on the internet...

I don't know if I call asking a question "begging", but whatever. Anyway, SDN is a resource and he was utilizing it. Hopefully, he'll look at what's been said here and realize that he is making a mistake and then better himself.

Also, state laws can be difficult to find online. Example - The Utah site is a piece of shit that never works right for me...

If you follow the line of posts the "lying to a citizen" matter wasn't apart of this line of responses. However, yes that is bad, but I think he'll see the mistake he's been making and correct it.

It's not just Texans When I was twelve, my family moved to Florida for two years. My dad had the temerity to fly the Union Jack, but didn't bother with the US flag since we only had one flag pole. The neighbors went absolutely apeshit.

I realize you may not be aware of the concept, but it's called 'Mockery'. Because he's a contemptuous slug of a troll who, when he finds he can't back up his shit, runs off. After the third thread where he did this, I find it easier just to mock him than expect results.

Well, that's because you filthy Communists need to keep your flags off of our God-given lands. Also, I hope you told your neighbors to kiss your ass 'cause, you know, like, it's a piece of fabric.

Certainly not, that would be absurd. I do, however, find it sad that he would go out of his way to enforce a law that he isn't sure about, and then come up with SDN as the best channel for inquiry available to him when it occured to him that he may have been abusing his power. I might even go so far as to speculate that these facts suggest that he actually doesn't give a shit if it was legal or not and just enjoys pushing people around.

I think you're delusional. His statements in thread are only the latest with which he has more-or-less reinforced my worst suspicions about the police.

I didn't personally, being only a wee lad at the time, but Dad offered them tea, and very politely told them to bugger off.

Someone should tell them about that little patch of Hawaii, that's actually a +/- 5-square-meter piece of British territory.

Their heads would probably explode.

I'm not saying he was in any way deserving of respect, I was just pointing out that there may be other reasons besides 'hiding' to explain why he hasn't posted. I havn't checked to see if he's done anything since this thread.

You should have told them that you´d fly the Stars and Stripes but that they´re currently in the wash because you wiped your ass with it the other day.

Flying a single flag isn't a problem, its only when you fly more than one.

Folks, chill the fuck out, as Chardok said. This is a worthless tangent. And like most worthless tangents, it can and will be removed and dumped. If he comes back, he can answer. But leaping up and bouncing up and down because a whole four hours have passed is stupid.
