contain anything really stupid?
Since there isn't a font size big enough (or that has a little MP3 that screams it at speaker destroying volume) I will put it this way.

Yes.

It doesn't really contain much of worth to Vs (or understanding the SW as a seperate entity) however(as far as I can remember).

Would the two Ewok TV movies count?

Not that I think they do, just asking what the general opinion is. At most, I assume they would just be official, like the SWHS.

BTW: Check this out: http://www.stomptokyo.com/movies/v/very ... -xmas.html.

NOTE: Since this was never finished, it's not even appocyphal. As far as anyone is concerned, it doesn't exist.

Yeah.. the XMas Special, the two Ewok Adventures, the Ewoks and Droids cartoons.. none of it is canon.

But I assume it's still considered in the heirarchy of "official" material, despite Lucas's own embarrassment at having allowed the Xmas Special (heh).

I liked the Ewok movies too.. but they were TV movies, not theatrical features. Oh well. ; )

And finally... it is my firm conviction that all true Star Wars fans must be "tested by fire" by sitting through the Star Wars Holiday Special.

You can download it online if you know where to look. The quality is bad, but then it's from '78 tv, so what do you expect. It has a lot of goofy scenes with wookies and (then popular) tv actors of the time making cameos (the cantina scene is particularly.. interesting, heh).

Most people watch it just to see the cartoon portion of it that features the first apperance of Boba Fett, but you gotta see the whole thing, trust me. It's bad, but you've gotta watch it... you owe it to your fellow fans!

It proves that Wookies watch cooking TV shows all the time and live in tall tree houses (and Chewie's wife looks a lot like him with an apron). I think I've blocked everything else, except that scene when that guy who looked like Vader took his helmet off (back then I figured out he was a young Darth Vader and this was "The Past"), but I was a kid and have now seen the screenshots and he's actually more like an AT pilot.

I'll try and find the quote, but Lucas reportedly once said he wished he could destroy every copy of the SW Holiday Special.

I don't think Lucas really had anything to do with the HS, IIRC. He isn't listed in the credits at least.

The SWHS is kinda like the Marvel SW comics: they're unofficial, but official works can use their contents.

*bzzt*

Wrong.

George Lucas personally created the Holiday Special. Who else do you think was making SW in 1978 (IIRC)?

And Marvel is official. Hell the often quoted Sansweet quote explains Marvel is part of continuity. Hell, that's the fucking question it was answering.

I can produce lots of quotes I actually have on hand (my source has been ignoring me or had comp trouble or something since just before Christmas or something...) where Lucas personally chose Marvel and their team to make the very first EU products.

They are very much official and some of them get closer to GL's work and ideas then other Bantam EU did, including the "only two" Sith dynamic, which they unofficially nailed.

Please know what you're talking about before speaking out of your ass again.

Coming from the one individual who likes to let everyone know who he is by going on in shrieking assault through verbage, I somehow feel warm and fuzzy.

If you don't know what you're talking about before you say it, that's not my problem. The end.

There were TWO Ewok movies???

I only remember one about two little brats who were looking for their parents, and saving them from a big monster with the help of the Ewoks. Are you including RotJ?

It was in the theather, I think.

I enjoyed them as a kid as well (haven't seen them since though).

And I never had a thing for ewoks, despite what everybody says about them. I never considered them "cute" or asked for an ewok doll (though I did have a few figures... hard to re-create the battle of endor without them!). I just watched them because they were Star Wars. ; )

Speaking of the Ewok movies. Are they considered just as Canon as the Trilogy films? and if they are, are they prequals or sequals to RotJ?

I remember seeing one of them years ago where the family crashed on the planet and had to help the Ewoks and so on.

I liked the Ewok cartoon. It was like Care Bears only with animals you KNEW were going to die as soon as Sir. Newton grabbed those chunks of sizzled DS2 and brought them tumbling onto their pretty heads...

Yub-yub!
