If he only started amusingly pathetic debates, I might be okay with DumbShit coming back. But thats not what he did. He infected every thread there was with his idiotic lying bullshit, and made good rational debates impossible. Keep him the fuck out.

I generally stay quiet unless I think I can contribute to a thread or perhaps score a few points on humor. I've watched the debate, I've read as much as I could find from Darkstar. Sadly he is obviously incapable of conducting himself in a rational and mature manner.
When your best debating tactic is to rebut with your original argument and deliver a counter consisting of "I already explained why", it's obvious you are over your head. But to compound this by becoming belligerent is unforgivable.

Interestingly, I think his best debate showing was the "Canon" topic with Mike. Of course, that fell well short of the mark. But he ded manage (mostly) to stay within the parameters of the debate...mostly.

Anyway, this is the behaviour I have seen time and again in the posts I reviewed. This board doesn't need the extra bs.

Furthermore, many of his insults are unprovoked with the obvious intention of goading his opponents into dropping to his level so he can claim he has been offended.

I say No.

So, he seems paranoid. You all know the saying "Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you". In his case, no one was out to get him until his behaviour pushed everyone in that direction.

No way. There's no point in it because he's not going to add anything useful to the forums. He has an acidic nature and has proven to be unwilling to bend to any known rules of civility. And above all, he's clearly mentally incompetent. You might say you would gain some fun by tormenting him, but he's pathetic enough when viewed at a distance.

I'm definitely on the side of "No".

I don't know about all y'all, but I can only get so much enjoyment out of seeing him get his points ripped to shreds only to have him ignore/lie/repeat his original arguments.

Clever as the insults have been to him in the more flame-infested exchanges, they don't change his mind.

In my own debate with him, regarding the issue of EU canon, I avoided all flaming and what did it come down to? His last reply to me was something along the lines of "you gave excellent reasons for your interpretation, but I choose mine anyway." That was it.

Nice or extra crispy, it makes no difference, there is no changing his little mind.

There is as difference between what DarkStar does and what veteran VS debaters do. While the veteran may insult, it is usually justified. The veteran may be harsh, but he is correct. And to a veteran, style is inferior to the substance of an argument.

DarkStar is infinitely worse than the average troll because he lies, he obfuscates, and he does insult people. If you had possessed even the semblance of an intellect, you'd see farther than the polite tone he affects. Since you don't, you need to have such basic things pointed out to you, and that's why a lot of these nasty flaming people seem to claim that, gee, you're a fucking moron.

I say keep him banned. When he was here, he congested the boards with his nonsense, and thanks to his ignorance, led to annoying debates that spanned dozens of pages. I say any debates with him should be done via e-mail. Besides, if we un-ban him, and then decide to ban him again after we get sick of him, he'll just say that we were afraid of him.
