Phantom Edits

Post by Battlehymn Republic »

I'm currently watching the Magnoliafan version of the Phantom Edit for Episode I on YouTube right now, and so far it's rather well done. I've also discovered the mother of fan edit sites, and look forward to watching more in the future.

That said,

1. Have you seen any versions of the Phantom Edit or other Star Wars film edits?

2. What do you think about them?

Yes. While they're interesting (and they go a long way to showing how a little editing can tweak up a film), there's really only so much you can do with slight edits (we're talking amateur editors working for free in their spare time after all).

The Prequels (esp. Episode I) are still pretty flawed.

I don't personally have a problem with people creating these things, since only a few fans will see them anyway. However I can understand the concerns of Lucas & co. because sadly these are often bootlegged and sold (usually not by the person who created them but still), illegally of course.
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
Someone asked me yesterday if Dracula met Saruman and there was a fight, who would win. I just looked at this man. What an idiotic thing to say. I mean really, it was half-witted. - Christopher Lee
