While I don't own either, the XBox 360 can only play a limited number of XBox games (luckily most of the good ones). Compatibility is not 100%, so there might actually be use for the original one.

Also, I assume that the original XBox would still need to be hooked up to use your old save games.

Selling it to my tennants next door, their sons was stolen sometime before they moved into the apartment I'm renting out and I was going to let them borrow it until they decided they wanted to go somewhere else, instead they opted to buy it, and for $150. (I didn't set the price, I asked how much they wanted to give me for it and that's the first thing that came up. Most of the games I have are really popular, like KOTOR and Battlefront, so updates let me play all my old games

I'm planning on selling mine, along with whatever games haven't been updated to work on the 360 when I get close to enough money to afford it. I'm not really attached to most of my games, and the ones I like the most are popular enough to have been emulated for the 360.

Soft-modding an XBox can be done fairly inexpensively (good guide to it here), and gives you a decent media centre "PC", still able to run all your old XBox games.

I gave it to my brother for an apartment warming gift. I liked the original x box and had plenty of games, enough that even his girlfriend got into playing it.

You can also take your old unit to Electronics Boutique or other gaming shops, for which they are likely to give you a limited amount of store credit which you can put towards other games.

This becomes less useful the older the console gets, mind.

I gave mine to my friend as a house warming gift. Granted, it doesn't work very well, and it has a mod chip that I never took advantage of, but when it does work, hey, free xbox!

I don't know what I would've done with it had I not sold it for some quick cash. I don't even remember what I got for it so I wouldn't be much help. I just don't have any games for the original Xbox other than Halo 2. Why are you asking this? Why not put it up for sale at Ebay or make some money off the thing?

You could make a nice planter bed out of it, or throw it at someone.

Really I saved mine because I have a weird habit of having to keep the consoles I buy even if I just keep them in a box and play them only occasionally. It's like having the history of gaming in your closet. However most just sell theirs.

It's upstairs with the old TV. My girlfriend uses it for her exercise DVDs. Such a lowly end for a gaming system....

I kept mine, I have to have something to play Steel Battalion on. Also as mentioned plenty of games don't work too well on the 360 in backwards compatible mode (Metal Gear Solid 2 doesn't even run at all).

i use mine a lot less now that a have an upgrade for the 360 that lets me play all my x-box games. the only time i use it is when my little cousins come over and thats only because i only have two controllers for the 360. might end up giving it to them.

Still using it. Even after I get my hard drive, a good number of my Xbox games aren't backwards compatible.

Still have it, not all games are backward compatible as others have said and it works for non-HD TVs.
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Mine is modded. I have all the emulators along with all the games on it - NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, etc. I was going to get rid of it, but I like to play classic RPGs every now and then.

We never owned an Xbox. My brother bought a 360 after being without a console for years; the previous one being a Sega Dreamcast, which we gave to the local Salvation Army thrift store, along with all the games we had for it (where it was sold quite quickly). In retrospect I wish we hadn't, given how collectible those things are becoming.
