I don't think it's been been said either way whether or not ZS Samus will be independently selectable.
When Samus destroys her Power Suit, she’s left with the Zero Suit. What she’s lost in power and weaponry, she makes up for in speed!
Yeah, its been mentioned.
I hope, after a death, you come back armored.
Yeah, you know that's not going to happen right?

Yeah, I know. A man can dream though, can't he?

So now not only are a lot of Samus players simply going to be 'Catsuit and Whip girl' players who don't like Samus at all, and merely want to sit back and be a jackass until they can grab the Final Smash, but if I choose to be samus and fire off my ultra beam, I lose all my sexy armor! Why, Nintendo?

Why couldn't you instead make it a Phazon thing, and have us turn into Dark Samus after using it? Or something! Let's just hope it's less lame and gimmicky than it looks, but goddamn they've been advertising it hard.

Yes, I knew that from when they announced that aspect in the first place, but what hasn't been mentioned is whether there is the option to select ZS Samus right off the bat.

Two updates today
Kirby: Final Smash

<Cook Kirby>

Kirby is quite the glutton. He apparently even does his own cooking.

Welcome to Kirby’s cooking class!

The cook puts on his hat!

He takes out a giant pot!

Dinner’s ready! He rings his bell.

He tosses his enemies into the pot...

Simmers them gently and deliberately...

OK! Order up!

Once you take out the stock, your enemy gets blasted off.

But is that a real dish? Something like stone soup, maybe? Can you put just anything in there? Are you sure?

Man, you lose, Ashley's one of the best characters in WarioWare.

If that's the same VA I had no idea she could actually sing.

EDIT: Oh I see, it isn't, but that's still some singing there.

Ya know, Ashley’s Theme isn't exactly what I'd call music for battle, but it is surprisingly catchy. :)

Again, I love this game more and more with each update. It is a celebration of all things Nintendo. With Snake there to bad-ass things up too. :D

Nintendo Conference is underway right now.

Japan is getting Brawl in January, online co-op is a go, and...

Sonic is confirmed to be in the game as a playable character.

Hells yeah! :D Post a link as soon as you get one, please.

Edit: Trog underestimates his google-fu. Link Check 14:24.

This makes me stupidly happy. I wonder if it's just him or if Tails and Knuckles will also make an appearance as playable characters.

Gaaauwgh. Goddamn Sonic. At least this means we'll have the chance to break his face in. How many 3rd Party characters were they going to let in? I heard, anecdotally, that 3 was what the people say. I'm guessing that means Snake, Sonic... and someone else? Or is that it? I'd love another "From Left Field" character, especially since Snake appeared in a beat-em-up that included old Nintendo-platform Konami games like Castlevania. Simon Belmont would be a great addition, as there have been way more Castlevania games on Nintendo platforms than Metal Gear games. Castlevania was even in Captain N!

Oh, so was Megaman. He'd be interesting too, but Capcom is a bit stingy. Still, with the Wii and GameCube versions of Resident Evil, maybe we could get a Zombie.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force; it was as if a million Sonic fanboys cried out in joy, and suddenly ejaculated...

A Castlevania character would interesting though.

Also, am I the only one to get the feeling that they gave up trying to balance this game a long time ago and are now just giving the characters whatever crazy moves they can think of, simply because there are so many of them?

Castlevania would kick ass! It has to be Belmont with the whip, though.

Meh, It's ok that Sonic's in Brawl but I would have rather like to seen Ryu, Akuma or Megaman in Brawl than Sonic.

Yeah, Sonic hasn't had a good main game in years. And, yeah, Sonic hasn't been cool in years and has become an annoying little shit stain. And, yeah, about a million Sonic fans have just ejaculated into their pillows.

It's still awesome.

I remember Nintendo saying three would be the max amount of third party characters. That could change, but it's unlikely to go up. They may feel that Sonic and Snake is enough of a coup that anything else would be a relative let-down.

Konami and Sega already have one apiece. So, if they pick any company for a final third party character, it should be someone like Capcom.

Objection!

w00t! This absolutely made my day. The video on the Brawl site is just awesome. I'm an old school Sonic fans, and while all his new games suck, I still play the classics, and still enjoy SatAM and the old comic series. And I even enjoyed Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (despite cruddy graphics and annoying characters), which is where that music is from.

I'm just glad they didn't take any music from Sonic Wild Fire. I've heard the music, and it's terrible. "Live and Learn" is Sonic Adventure 2 theme, which is my definite favorite of all the modern Sonic games (not saying much).

When did Nintendo say "only 3"? I seem to remember an exec making a vague comment about "we'd like three or four"; it didn't sound like a number set in stone.

Anyway, I want MegaMan from Capcom. I wouldn't mind Sora from Kingdom Hearts, either, but licensing might be a bit of trouble if they want to make any of his moves summon Goofy or Donald.

alls i know is if they made Captain Harlock a playable character I would buy a Wii and Brawl the day it came out and basically fail half my classes

Would the discovery of Metal-sonic as an Alt-appearance cause you to achieve warp speed? . Awesome this is, yes, and we'll know now not only who can run/jump/drop-butt faster/higher/harder from the Olympic games, but who can beat the crap out of the other better :P

I don't know that, but the variety in how the characters work seems like a balancing nightmare, add to that completely different "final smashes" for every character, where some seem to kill everything on the screen and then some, while others seem to be much more limited. This with an item that is supposed to be like the hammer, except that one worked the same for all characters. I also wonder if they'll make something like the baseball bat from the original game, because that thing was very unbalanced.

It's going to be really interesting to see how they pull this off...
