Capcom: Prepare yourself.

Post by Praxis »

http://blogs.capcomusa.com/blogs/news.p ... e_yourself
So, Capcom's official blog updated with a post that says, simply:
Prepare Yourself

??? ???? ????????????? ???? ??? ????????? ? ????? ? ??????.

??????? ???????? ??? ? ?????!
Really, that's it. I checked the source code. It's not a translation problem. It's just question marks.

Here's one theory I've found:

??? ???? ????????????? ???? ??? ????????? ? ????? ? ??????.

Megaman ???????? ??? ? Brawl!

But it's probably wishful thinking.

Can anyone here make a guess?

??? ???? ????????????? ???? ??? ????????? ? ????? ? ??????.

The Next SmashBrothers have not announced a final a Capcom.

The Last SmashBrothers have now announced a final

The Hero SmashBrothers from the

??????? ???????? ??? ? ?????!
---7------------8------3--1---5

Megaman returned for a brawl!

Gibberish as yet, but if you want wishful thinking, I think it's a good direction. There's no way my decipherment is right. I wish it was a real code. That'd be fun! BTW, I'm telling you, it's the Captain N. Connection. Mine's just a quickbrainstorm of key words I'd like to see fit in somehow. ;D

How many 13 letter words are there? How many things could fit into a single ? mystery spot?

Maybe they bought out Mortal Kombat?

Sorry, that's still the first thing that comes to mind when someone just says: "Prepare Yourself."

It's obviously hinting at something as opposed to just being a fuck up.

There's a countdown for the "Prepare Yourself" on the front page of Capcom Unity. 5 days, 15 hours and counting.

Looks like we'll find out then.

Deciphering the '?'

Post by BountyHunterSAx »

??? ???? ????????????? ???? ??? ????????? ? ????? ? ??????.

Seems to me that it's probably cryptographic. Particularly given the lengths of the question marks. The opening three are probably 'the' and there are enough singles that they could indeed mean the words 'i' or 'a'. In the first sentence the closest disproof to this i found was the ? ????? ? segment, since i can't think of what fragment might work there in english. Still, if I'm right, then the key will probably be the ????????????? segment. What word is 13 letters long, and has something to do with capcom? I doubt that it's a 'normal' english word, since bigger words tend to be just slightly smaller. I mean, in this post, the biggest word is cryptographic at exactly 13, for instance.

Still; that hardly proves anything.

Smashbrothers is a 13 letter word.

So is hermaphrodite, grandmotherly, vulcanologist and cryptographic.

Take your pick--without some more hints it could mean a lot of things, however, the timing is certainly interesting, and fuel for some thought amongst those of us who would enjoy seeing megaman.

For those interested, I -did- count out the ???'s up there, and list the number of each, so you can try making your own Capcom mad-libs.

Heh heh...

Will they feel differently because of some positive PS3 news or because Megaman being in Brawl would disappoint them more? That is the question.

This is getting very interesting.

Yeah. While we here are really pulling for a Megaman appearence in Smash, and do think it would make some sense (Captain N!) the ideas elsewhere are pretty suprisingly all-over the place.

PS3 players are hoping for an exclusive, a new IP--and for fuck's sake, don't call it IP. That's the dumbest term ever. Call it 'new game'. Anyone who talks about their IP is a douchebag.

And the Capcom fanboys are really pulling for Streetfighter 4. I don't get that--I love Streetfighter as much as any man on Earth, but do they honestly think they can improve on the Alpha series? There's sequels, and then there's sequels for no reason.

Also, while capcom has been on several threads mentioning 'bombshells' I can't really count a new Devil May Cry game as a 'bombshell'. SF4 would count, but c'mon, the blue bomber appearing in Smash would be a so-called 'megaton bombshell,' I think. I'm not sure why they'd have made that comment to PS3 owners though, unless they just wanted to be jackasses. So I'm currently assuming that it's a non-Smash related announcement.

Bit of info, on the 8th, Capcom filed for copyright on the name 'Dark Void' pertaining to videogames. I'm guessing that this is one of the things they want to announce on their gameday in, what, five days? I think that's what the counter is counting-down to.

Sadly, that probably means no megaman. But it does mean a new game from capcom, which would be fun. If that franchise isn't Megaman though, I wonder what it is?

Because it's not as if Megaman doesn't already have a metrick fuckton of games as it is. :P

I don't mean a new megaman game! I meant Megaman in smash! :D

There were a few huge franchises on the Nintendo back in the day, and Megaman was definately one of them, so he'd be totally at-home amongst other nintendo figures. So I was holding out some hope for a capcom rep--we have a Konami one, for example.

If we got a guy from capcom, all we'd need is someone from Squaresoft. I nominate Black Mage from Final Fantasy 1.

I'd rather have a Namco character.

Someone like, say, Heihachi would be a fun contrast to the rest of the characters (plus he could round out the "power" character end of the game).

What is Project Zohar?

If it's anyone from Squaresoft, Chocobo would make a better alternative to Black Mage.

Which one, though? Personally, if a Squarenix character does make an appearance, I'd expect it to be Cloud. Not saying I want it to be Cloud, just that he's the one I'd expect them to pick.

Yeah, if Square Enix was going to release any Final Fantasy character (or from any of their series, for that matter) for a Smash Bros. game, it'd be Cloud.

We were discussing this in the chat recently, and if it turns out to be Sephiroth I will pitch a fucking fit.

I doubt it'll Sephiroth, if only because of balance issues. Were he in the game, the Masamune should by all rights give him ungodly range, so he'd either be totally unbalanced or they'd have to shrink the sword somehow. Cloud could keep his phallic compensator...er, I mean, oversized weapon, with no such difficulties.

Cloud's final smash would just be his coolest limit break. ;)

They could always go with his new version of Omnislash, which is somewhat different.
