Hard Drive Labeling Issues

Post by General Zod »

Figure it might be easier asking here than spending several hours searching myself. I recently reinstalled Windows and so far things are going smoothly as far as getting everything up to snuff goes. Now here's the problem. I have two WD external hard drives, and before I reinstalled they were set up as D: and E: respectively. Now, since I've reinstalled for some insane reason my computer reads them as E: and D: instead.

This is problematic because my music collection is in my (now E:) drive, and in order for me to get iTunes to import the Library file I saved, the paths have to match. If anyone knows for an easy way to either change my hard drive's label or point iTunes to the right direction, that would be helpful.

Assuming you're using something in the NT line and not a toy...

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Storage -> Disk Management

In the right-panel you can change drive letters and such. Just right-click on a partition and you should see the option.

Clearly I'm not awake. The OS is XP. That seems to have done the trick though. :D

XP is in the NT line. Everything not derived from Win16 or Win95 is in the NT line.
