Konami already has Snake in the lineup though.

Why? IIRC Sakurai made a statement (may not be Ninty's official stance though) that only characters that have appeared on Nintendo's platforms will be considered.

Cloud has not, unless you count a guest cameo in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for GBA.

Hmm...

In that case, I'd love to see the kid from Robotrek. (Enix released it here... not really theirs but eh.) He'd probably end up a near clone of the Pokemon Trainer, since his robots did the fighting... But they'd handle different enough.

But that's a terrible outside shot, since it's a rather obscure SNES RPG... Ah well, Megaman, Protoman or Zero would be good too...

And they're already doubtful. Since, last I heard there was only going to be two cameo characters other than snake.

Boom?
Live report from Capcom Gamer's Day in London
Oct 17, 2007

Street Fighter 4
Development has just begun and the release of the game is more than a year away. No platforms are yet confirmed - a highly stylised animated concept trailer of Ryu and Ken fighting was shown, but no game footage.

Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice
A new character and new series starring a rookie lawyer. Phoenix Wright makes an appearance but is not the lead character. Made specifically for DS.

Lost Planet (PS3)
Avaialable early next year and will include all bonus characters from the PC version and extra downloadable content from the 360 version making it the complete package. Made possible with Blu-ray. 16 player online over the PSN.

Dark Void
A new sci-fi action-adventure IP. Trailer showed third-person and air-vehicle gameplay with a character wearing a steam punk jetpack, skydiving and landing in the cockpit of a gyroscopic aircraft, and then jumping and climbing through airbase fortesses.

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD (Xbox Live Arcade)
The game will feature a spectator mode and is scheduled for a 2008 while the team try and get zero lag for the online mode. Also features stat tracking and widescreen. Original music from Street Fighter 2 will be used, plus remixed versions of all those tunes.

Wii Love Golf
From the Everybody's Golf team comes a cutesy golf sim, that looks slightly more technical than the PlayStation versions. Players can fade or draw the ball by twisting the Wii-mote when taking a swing.

We'll have more from our man in London later.
re: LP: PS3 (which I will not buy because it was terrible), what sticker on this box means nothing?

Ah that's awesome. All the downloadable content plus all the bonus characters?

Good for Capcom. Companies that deliberately gimp games so they can sell the extra stuff as downloadable content tick me off.

Indeed, brings to mind the shitstorm over not being able to give stuff away on xbox live, you have to sell it. I wonder why people hate the company that starts with M and ends with icrosoft.

What shitstorm?

Because, uh, there's plenty of 360 games that have free DLC.

There was a bit of internet muttering about one of the Gears of War DLC packs. Epic wanted to give it away free, Microsoft didn't. Microsoft could do that because they published Gears of War, it's nothing to do with the nature of the Live service. (the first GoW map pack had indeed been free).

It was hardly a shitstorm.

Whilst it's a common response to the concept of downloadable content, the only game I can think of where this is a valid criticism is Motorstorm, and only because it appears to have been rushed to market missing features like time trials which are a standard feature of every other racing game since the dawn of time.

People do need to realise that developers have to set a limit to the amount of stuff they put in a game before calling it finished, because if they added all the extra maps, characters, and whatever that comes out as DLC eventually they'd never release the fucking game.

Yeah, it's obvious in Capcom's case that they just didn't have the stuff ready, since they're including it all in the re-release. That's why I said bravo for Capcom. But a lot of companies do hold stuff back- see Gran Turismo 5.

Well, not really in Lost Planet's case. It shipped with a fairly good selection of multiplayer maps and game modes, and they just added more after release. The game as released on the Xbox 360 wasn't unfinished in any way.

GT5 is still paperware, frankly. It's not coming out until the back end of next year, so speculating on what will or won't be included or downloaded is futile at this point.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but hasn't Sony already said it will ship with a minimal selection of tracks and cars, and be very cheap, but you have to buy all the stages and cars separately?

Yeah, they said that, but that was something like E3 last year, and it might not be relevant any more. GT5 Prologue, which is essentially a glorified demo, has a couple of tracks and 40 odd cars, but that's a free PSN download.

What the actual game will have when they finally get around to releasing it is unknown. They seem to have repurposed PS Home as the micropayment cash cow (Home is one of the biggest feature creatures in console history, explaining it's multitudinous delays)

You can read the previews for yourself, compare what it was announced as to the latest news about it's delay to next year for feature list against original intent for the product.
