We were taught Kings Play Chess On Fine Grained Sand.

I like your version *much* better.

Mine was King Philip Came On Foot, Gathering Species Very Rare. Which is the same thing, just adding variety and race.

Also, LEO the lion says GER. That is, Loss of Electrons is Oxidation. Gain of Electrons is Reduction.

Another one was Saddle Our Horses. Canter Away Happily. To Other Adventures. Which are all the trigonometric functions.

sin = opposite/hypotenuse
cos = adjacent/hypotenuse
tan = opposite/adjacent

I'm sure there are others I could think up given time. (Ironically, I can't remember them at the moment.)

Orders By A Fat General Kills Many nice soldiers.

The spectral classes of stars, from hottest to coolest. This ends at M, so "nice solders" is just to make the mnemonic snappy. (That's what you're talking about are called, BTW.)

This, sadly, is the only one I remember that does any good now. All the rest of the stuff I learned is through brute-force memorization, or is stuff I have to look up.
Darth Wong on Strollers vs. Assholes: "There were days when I wished that my stroller had weapons on it."
wilfulton on Bible genetics: "If two screaming lunatics copulate in front of another screaming lunatic, the result will be yet another screaming lunatic. 8)"
SirNitram: "The nation of France is a theory, not a fact. It should therefore be approached with an open mind, and critically debated and considered."

Oh, Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me is the star-sequence one as I learned it.

It's fun to see so many variations of familiar mnemonics.

How do you remember which of the B-words maps to which color? I learned the racist motherfucker version:

Black Boys Rape Our Young Girls But Violet Goes Willingly.

If you don't mind using anachronistic racist propaganda as a mnemonic device, it's better than the one you said.

An alternate version of Eris' "Leo the lion says GER"; Oxidation Is Loss, Reduction Is Gain (of electrons).

I'm almost afraid to ask how you remember the spelling of antidisestablishmentarianism.

One that a mate of mine came up with for remembering the OSI network layer model:

Anal Pleasure Soon Turns Nasty, Double Penetration (Application, Presentation, Session, Transport, Network, Data-link, Physical)

No-one forgot that one.

I was always taught "I Don't Play Loud Music Any Longer".
Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes you can do these things... their number is negligible and they are stupid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

No, you just learned a corrupted version of the mnemonic. The original is "Orders By A Fat General Kill Many Really Nice Soldiers". The RNS at the end are more obscure spectral types. The traditional "Oh Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me Right Now, Smack!" works the same way.

Minor point of interest: This mnemonic was created by yours truly at a young age after being taught the traditional version.

Black Bastard's Raped Our Young Girls, Blessed Virginity Gone West.

Taught to me by my father who, when learning his trade, was told "don't bother with transistor's, they'll never replace the vacuum tube" (along with this mnemonic). Yes it was a while ago 'bout 50 years give or take.

For some reason it's the only mnemonic I ever remembered, I always just used brute force for memorising things.
All people are equal but some people are more equal than others.
