I have good news, and bad news. Here it is:
Oct. 18 Thu. 2007

Little Mac
Items

Little Mac

Once there was a legendary man. He knocked heavyweight boxers many times his own size to the mat en route to a W.V.B.A. title.

Little Mac appears from Punch Out!

screenshot

I can do it! I’m the one!

screenshot

... But isn’t he a little small?

Don’t take him too lightly just because he’s small. There’s an authentic fighter in him.

screenshot

A fierce dash!

screenshot

One! Two! Powerful jabs!

screenshot

And his special move is his uppercut!

Resurrecting this legend for the current generation is something we can all enjoy just a bit. He is an Assist Trophy.
Wow, he's actually shorter than Samus!

That's a bit of a bummer that he's just an assist trophy. They should have made him a playable character, and Mike Tyson as an assist. Tyson pops up, shuffles a bit, rushes, and bites ears off.

Peach's Final Smash. Simple. Elegant. Insidious. Especially in team play.
Oct. 19 Fri. 2007

Peach: Final Smash
Characters

<Peach Blossom>

Somehow, Princess Peach always seems go at her own pace. Her Final Smash will lure you into her world.

screenshot

She’s got the Smash Ball and she’s ready!

screenshot

Wh-what is this? This screen frame?!

screenshot

Peach dances. Mario suddenly gets sleepy.

screenshot

At the end, a plethora of peaches!

The closer you are to Peach, the deeper you sleep. And all around you is a mountain of peaches that replenish your health when you eat them.

screenshot

Are you just going to eat peaches?!

screenshot

Or are you going to launch your foes?!

The flowers bloom. The peaches pour down. Yes. It’s so elegant.

That move looks quite mad. I love it already.

Isn't Samus over 6 foot tall? She's hardly short.

According to Starbound, it's a problem solvable with enough combat drugs to turn you into the Incredible Hulk.

Samus is about 6'4' and 200 pounds of chozo-raised badass. Apparently she's also got a bust of 36C, which I find absolutely incomprehensible. I don't think the Japanese really know what these numbers mean. I think a six-and-a-half foot hulking bounty hunter chick would probably clock in at more than 200 pounds, and I can't imagine her chest being so small (not the cup size, the numerical size) but hey, maybe I'm just too used to Space Marines. She'd look good in one of those suits too! Samus, Sister of Battle! ;D

Does Samus's height include the armor or not? Because she's significantly shorter when she's out of it, though I do agree 200 lb is just way too low in or out of armor.

It would be outside of armor--she seems to be extremely weighty when she's suited up, and that'd make her weight something like 150 or so. 6'4" and 150 pounds? Unlikely! I think she's just generally a beast while suited up. We rarely see other people next to her--but we can infer. Lemme check.

For the record, Little Mac is only 4'8" and 107 pounds.

Samus is pretty tall regardless. In her armor she's around the same size as a Space Pirate, which is listed at around nine feet tall on this Wierd Alien Wiki entry. She's not inhumanly tall, but she's a large woman, and when she's armored she seems to be quite a heap of metal and win.

Some good news, from GameFAQs (hands out salt shakers.) According to secondhand sources at E4, the "competitive techniques" such as wavedashing are out of Brawl \m/.

The thing to keep in mind, though, that wavedashing and the like are simply physics glitches. They might get fixed, but I'm sure others will be found.

Space Pirates aren't quite 9 ft tall. Scaling from the morph ball with the assumption that it remains a consistent size throughout the series, Samus is just over 2 meters tall with her armor, with the average Pirate slightly taller than that. So probably 7-8 ft.

Samus is hot.

Her hotness and Snake's kickassitude make me want to get Wii, just for Smash Bros.

But then MGS4 is a PS3 exclusive. Damn. :(

It's only a matter of time before they find some more, but I'm glad to see them gone! "Supposed to be in the game" my ass.

Of course, it's easily possible that it's just a lot harder to do those techniques with a Wii remote/Classic controller. I've still never managed to pull them off well with a Wavebird- not enough to use them in a fight.

And I thought the Warioware stage was gonna be odd...
There are only a few nonsense stages in the only "slightly" nonsensical Smash. But there isn’t any stage more nonsensical than this.

PictoChat?! What is THIS?!

It’s a fun little sketch-and-chat software with wireless functionality that’s built into the Nintendo DS!

screenshot

And if you turn it into a stage, it looks like this! BAM!

screenshot

At first, there’s nothing there. It’s just flat.

screenshot

If you wait a bit, terrain gets drawn in with a few stylus strokes!

Of course, you can climb up on the doodles.

screenshot

You may get knocked about by side winds.

screenshot

There may be things you want to ride on moving around.

screenshot

Hot! HOT! Are these flames?

screenshot

This looks solid! But it’s also flat?!

screenshot

Wow! A whale!

The doodles that appear will disappear after a while, and then something else will get drawn.

Oh, and on this stage, you’ll also be able to enjoy Mii Channel music and Wii Shop Channel music, too.

screenshot

Oh! That’s just divine.

Based on the demos at E For All, the air-dodge mechanics have changed. Previously, your momentum would be reset when you air-dodged. You could push yourself in any direction with the midair dodge. Apparently (I haven't attempted this technique yet), wavedashing involves you changing your direction during the midair dodge to push yourself into the ground immediately after jumping.

The air-dodge mechanics have changed so that your momentum is no longer reset and you cannot give yourself the same "push" into the ground that you could before. (I'm not sure if anyone attempted to see what happens if you air dodge just before hitting the ground in Brawl.)

So, no, it's not a controller issue. The game mechanics have changed.

Interesting. So it seems that I won't be able to use the air dodge to give myself more distance before using the grapple.

I have complained, on numerous occasions, that the stages in Brawl were boring. I have been completely and utterly corrected. Good show.

For today, a little change-up in Break the Targets.

This time, there are only five(I hope they can have new ones up for download, though), but they're available for every character, instead of each one getting their own personal level.

Also, you're now able to record up to three minutes of gameplay, save, and share them.

No surprise but still really awesome. We've got a Kirby villain and anti-hero...same for Mario (Bowser and Wario). I expect Ganondorf's still in it too, so we've got Link and his villains.

Villains vs Heroes FTW. I love remaking battles like that.
