Question on space marine options
I'm new to WH40k and I have models of the space marine razorback and predator tank. I was wondering for the the razorback should I use the heavy bolter option or lascannon option. And with the predator would I be better off with the Annihilator route or destructor route? Also I plan on my ultramarines being tyranid hunters.

It really depends on what the rest of your army looks like. It's just a question of whether you want/need anti-personnel or anti-tank. If it were me, I'd go for a Predator Annihilator and a heavy bolter Razorback, but that's because I already have a Destructor and I need more AT and an all-purpose IFV.
Who do you think your principle opponents will be? If you expect to go up against a lot of Guard, Marines, or Chaos, the lascannons will likely pay off more. For 'Nids or Orks, the autocannons and heavy bolters will probably be more useful.

use magnets so you can swap freely back and forth between both mounts. it rules.
As far as gameplay goes, the HBs are good on the razorback. LC razorbacks just attract too much attention, while the HB 'back often gets ignored until it's done some real damage. The HB sponsons are wonderful on the Predator, as that lets you move and shoot everything. use LC sponsons only if you're going to use the Predator as a stationary firebase/bulletmagnet.

as other have said it really depends on kind opposition you're gonna face.
btw slightly off topic but is there any rules on how the shoulder pads on commander model should put on or is it just what suits you?

There's never any rules for how you put together/paint your models, as long as it's ultimately WYSIWYG. For all the faults of GW, restricting how you model and paint your own army is not one of them. Generally, though, if you want to stick to fluff, the Chapter iconography goes on the left shoulder and unit markings (usually an eagle or skull for commanders) goes on their right.Lord Revan wrote:btw slightly off topic but is there any rules on how the shoulder pads on commander model should put on or is it just what suits you?

I have to agree with this. As a Tau Player, I was always seeking opportunities to take out as many lascannons as possible. With the Razorback's relatively low armor, it was easy Railgun bait.Darwin wrote:LC razorbacks just attract too much attention, while the HB 'back often gets ignored until it's done some real damage.

Yeah, now, if you have a LOT of armor, LC 'backs can be nice, but you need a target rich environment. And SMs just don't field armored companies like the Iggies do.locomotive23 wrote:Yea thanks for the suggestion guys. And until now I never really thought of LC 'backs being higher priority targets than the HB ones.
