Shintoism.

Post by Tosho »

What if we made a parody of christian fundies by creating shinto creationism? unfortunatly I don't have the knowledge of scientific terms to butcher it as well as a usual creationist does it. for the time being all I can provide is the texts (hopefully I can provide more than the texts later).

I have seen a few Shinto shrines in Japan, but most people there are Buddhists.

We could form the Theory of Shintoationism, and try to force our bullshit down onto public schools. We'd fight the creationist at every turn, making sure to kick them in the balls everytime they get too unrulely. It'd be fun.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Expect we would probably convince a portion, and once we revealed our hoax, they would say we had just been corrupted and the evil would continue.

I thought most were a combo of the two.

Hereupon all the Heavenly deities commanded the two deities His Augustness the Male-Who-Invites and Her Augustness the Female-Who-Invites, ordering them to "make, consolidate, and give birth to this drifting land." Granting to them a heavenly jeweled spear, they thus deigned to charge them. So the two deities, standing upon the Floating Bridge of Heaven pushed down the jeweled spear and stirred with it, whereupon, when they had stirred the brine till it went curdle-curdle, and drew the spear up, the brine that dripped down from the end of the spear was piled up and became an island. This is the Island of Onogoro.

How about this, ::deep authoritive voice:: According to modern science the Earth which was origanly space drebris coalesced into a single form, cleary this is a specific case of the shinto texts proving their legitamacy. Who could deny that Shintoism is the one true religion with such clear evidence? ::deep authoritive voice:: What do you think?

The trick to creating a cult is to make something that's marketable, but not too weird, with a lot of comforting rituals. Like Catholicism. Do you have any idea how much holy wine goes for these days?

Most Oriental cultures don't have the religious exclusivity of the West. It's entirely feasible for a Japanese person to follow Shinto for their view of the nation, Buddhism for the tranquility, and Confucianism to know how to relate to others. It's quite confusing to a Westerner, though my friends from the Phillipines and Hong Kong have said our culture seems just as strange to them.
