Survive The Zombie Horde!
In 30 Days ZOMBIES shall begin to spawn and attack the world populace!
You must prepare and make ready to survive the coming onslaught!
What do you get to aid ye in this Quest?
One "Come with me if you want to live" card.
Thjis card allows you to instantly convince up to 10 people to join you as well as convince them, without question, of the upcoming Zombie invasion!
You shall also recieve 100 vials of Anti-Zombie Serum If one of your brave commrads is bitten, injured, or otherwise Infected, you can cure them with one of these previous vials of serum.
Also, what Zombies do you face? Easy ones! They shall be slow shambleing Zombies that can be dispatched with a powerful headshot. But be warned! they have twice the strength of a normal human and will continue to function even with massive damage. Only decapatation or a headshot will put them down.
How shall the Zombie horde come about?
opn the 30th day from start, at High-Noon, 1 out 5 people across the globe, in towns OVER 50,000 people, shall be turned into a Zombie! POOF! No doubt the inffection shall spread quickly in vastly populated cities and it will be up to survive.
But for how long?
Hope is not lost! While Civilization takes a massive hit, the armies of the world are not wiped out... Within 8months they shall begin to wipe out the zombies as Humanity comes back from the brink!
Can you make it?

... 30 days...
... Standard shamblers...
... anti-zombie serum...
... and a no questions asked free 10 red shirts...
Yes, I have one friend who has near ready access to a vault full of weaponry of most legal caliburs, including shotguns. With a month's warning, we'd be more than able to fortify and survive.

Rule one of Existance: Never, under any circumstances, underestimate stupidity. As it will still find ways to surprise you.
Hum let see I am at a military base with over 30 generals on it and over hundred colonels, not counting the small frys. Got Marine Fources Europe command here, European Command here, Special operation command here plus special forces. And several normal army, airforce and navy units.
Oh plus the Arfican Command just moved in.
So my plan would be to convience the generals to stock pile weapons, food and start training personnel. Best thing is.
Pvt "Sargeant why are we praticing to kill fictional zombies."
Sgt "Because the general said to. So shut up and shot that !@#$ in the head."

Although still bloody difficult to survive in the UK thanks to the lack of firearms, this scenario is easier than most.
In 30 days I do several things. (I'm presuming the card embodies me with a power, rather than having to be rubbed on someones head or whatever). First, I find a way to put a telephone call through to the offshore mining rig I can see from the beach near my house. I concince the chief staff member of the rig, who will then allow myself and my team access to the rig as a safe haven. Even presuming Romero- or Solanum-class zombies a removal of any exterior ladders on the rig should make it proof even to wanderers on the sea bed.
But, before I flee to the rig, I convince all those possible without use of my card (family, girlfriend etc), and then give the card (with 9 uses remaining) to the most senior army officer I can find (with an RAF airbase and Army training base nearby, this shouldn't be impossible). With 8 uses remaining, the 'proof' will make it's way up the chain of command (starting at, say, a Captain, it should be at a pretty high level before it runs out), hopefully saving lives.
In the meantime, I assemble my party (before giving the card away, just to be sure) and collect supplies using the Zombie Survival Guide as a start. Melee weapons should be possible to get, and using my card, I can convince the military officer to give me at least some weapons and equipment (SA80 training carbines are perfect, being the real thing but semi-auto only - the perfect zombie fighting firearm). I gear up myself in the tactical gear I already own, and get able members of my party to similarly equip themselves. If we do not have enough weapons, I give my replica M4, MP5 and M92 to team members, since they can be used to coerce humans, though obviously worse than useless against zombies.
We then proceed to take a boat and head to the rig (either the rig sends one, or we buy one, or possibly steal one as a last resort but that'd have to be pretty close to Z-day or we might get arrested, which would obviously be very, very bad). On the rig, we're pretty much secure as far as I can see.

Most annoying thing I can see it shipping 8-9 months supply of food to my hideaway (oil rig / government bunker / whatever). That card is the key though - get through to the PM / president and you can probably save the other uses for stubborn family members .

Well... it's less than 10 people to get to the top, which means instead of it taking 8 months for the military to get into gear, it's more like 2 days or less.

Thirty days, hmm, not long to prepare for such a large oubreak. First priority is to get out of cities and onto an island off Scotland, low population plus low to zero Zombie accessability (shoreline watch will be set up).
With ten people I could probably get some reasonable amount of capital together though, so preparations could be made more rapidly.

What, the cadet trainer? Stuff that. Grab the real SA80 - it does have 'Repetion' on the fire selector switch, otherwise known as semi-automatic, and this is true semi-auto: with the cadet model, it is effectively bolt-action as the gas parts are removed forcing one to recock it between shots. Forget that.Lazarus wrote:(SA80 training carbines are perfect, being the real thing but semi-auto only - the perfect zombie fighting firearm)
Fortunately, in this scenario I can just wander up to the XO, magically convince him, get him to convince the Commodore, who phones the First Sea Lord, who gets on the line to the Chief of the Defence Staff, who doesn't need the card. No problem. (Unless, come the appointed hour, someone right behind me turns into a zombie and kills me. That would be a bit crap.)
I'm going to assume I have solid, incontrovertable proof that there is an upcoming zombie attack. I will use this in lieu of my Come With Me If You Want To Live card whenever possible.
First off, I use the evidence/CWMIYWTL on local police chief or commissioner to convince them that the zombie threat is real, and with that connection, I jump up to major city/state officials. I'll probably burn through a few uses of my CWMIYWTL card because the local civil servants are of the remarkably ignorant sort, but using that, I go up to state Senators and hopefully hit SECDEF before running out of uses. Once the country's most powerful people have an inkling of the threat, I get my own defenses ready: namely, find an island, load up on ammunition and food and gather all my heavily armed, former military friends, and hold out.

Flash the card to highest level offical in the building (not hard, as he's a few cubicals down from me)

Canada is now warned.
Repeat on Large Phamaseucitical company, give them 10 of the anti-zombie vials.
They might be able to reproduce it within 30 days.
Take off with my friends to safe house I have the Prime Minister build and stock, and invite lots of people up there for a party, say, 29 days from me getting the warning.

My company is relatively small which is good. I'm fairly sure that we have at least a couple hundred thousand in the company account, so the first person I show the card to is my boss. With access to the company's money we can easily buy the needed supplies and equipment to fend off the horde, and relocate to a new building that can easily be zombie-proofed.
Since we have some rather prominent businesses as clients, we could use it to convince the right people in key places to help stabilize things and garner massive resources for the zombie outbreak.

"It's you Americans. There's something about nipples you hate. If this were Germany, we'd be romping around naked on the stage here."
Simple.
At least one of my ten people is the PotUS (as well as, probably, a few other reliable congressional figures). Mobilize the military, get them ready for a zombie invasion, and do whatever I have to to make sure any city of close to 50,000 people gets under that number.
When the day comes and zombies pop up everywhere I can't get the population low enough, I have the military on high alert and myself in a secure location just in case everything does go banana-shaped. That complex in the Cheyennes sounds pretty good.

Whos read The Zombie Survival Guide? Follow the guidelines for establishing a safe house in an unoccupied area, and your golden. You would only really need to convince three buddies to help you, you have 30 days, and you can use the other seven for people in command positions. Easy

So you're going to trust you're safety to a person who may or may not have any clue what he's talking about? It's a well written book, but unless Max Brooks has more qualifications than I'm aware of, I'll ignore his advice.Lord Relvenous wrote:Whos read The Zombie Survival Guide? Conversion Table:
2000 Mockingbirds = 2 Kilomockingbirds
Basic Unit of Laryngitis = 1 Hoarsepower
453.6 Graham Crackers = 1 Pound Cake
1 Kilogram of Falling Figs - 1 Fig Newton
Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond
Half of a Large Intestine = 1 Semicolon

Easy. I live in a town with approx. 30,000 people with no road access. The only way to get here is by air or sea. Its also the state capital, so once the national guard is mobilized, we'll be fairly well protected. I spend the thirty days stocking up on food and other goods. I just wait it out and say "fuck you" to the world.

I wasn't saying follow it in blind faith, but I find his precautions and suggestions reasonable, and a good set of guidelines. Seeing as how in the OP these zombies have only the added benefit of being twice as strong, not super-sight or telepathy, that strength can't help them if they can't find me. The premise he wrote his book on would still apply.Master_Baerne wrote: So you're going to trust you're safety to a person who may or may not have any clue what he's talking about? Oh yeah, good point.
So.. is the military base in a town?
And if it is in a town, does it count as part of the town? Or do the personnel remain unchanged as 20% of the town around them goes 'zerk?

Let's see...I know at least 3 people who had Army training, one of which is my dad, another being my brother-in-law, who happens to take his son hunting. Come to think of it, the preacher and the music director of my church hunt as well. So that's 6 people I know personally that are proficient with firearms. I live in a town that has a sporting goods store with enough firearms to outfit a couple of rifle companies(at least. And that's just going by what they have on display. No telling what all they might have in the back). Assuming any of the above people have similar acquaintances that I can convince w/o using the card too much, I can get together a nice little army, and maybe try to help as many people as we can.

I take my family, a fisherman and 1-2 of my dad's old army friends (Either air-force or navy) or alternatively some of the people he's met in Turkey/Romania (in politics for example).
We then go to a little boat of the shores off Turkey, load it with gasoline and fish for 8 months. .
These things are always so easy .
Alternatively, I could always go to my old desert commune and the two army bases stationed nearby, with the head of an air-base, a tank platoon commander and the guy with a key to the nearby armory nearby. (There are less than 900 people in the village, so the amount of zombies will be constrained. Well, unless you count Camels. Or Goats.)
