If you mean the fifty thousand kilometre solar collection ring, of course it could work. It's an enormous expenditure of materials and man-hours, and it would be busy busy busy, but it's just a solar collection array.
Also, WHY THE HELL ARE YOU NOT IN HIDING? Living in the open? As the pilots of the most powerfull machines ever?
Because pilots are people too. Living in hiding for pretty much no good reason is just going to make them antsy. Valdy mentioned the Tracey brothers earlier, and that's a pretty good comparison - unless people know they're the pilots of the Gundams - which people don't - they are actually hiding.

Not so sure about that translation, In the one I have it says:

"If Im not this forceful I wont be able to seduce the Gundam"

"He's quite infatuated."

Quite a different take, the one I have supposedly comes from a source that has a "better" translation overall from what I've heard. They could still very well be gay (Billy especially going by looks) but I dont think there has actually been any outright implication yet.

I think the show would be better if we get more than subtext in the relationships.

It does sound more interesting if those two are doing double entendres like I thought too. Makes for more human characters than the bland, 2-D emo-tastic stars of recent series.

In one of the Gundam 00 discussion threads on mechatalk.net, someone said ponytail's actually line was something like, "He fell over the Gundam like a drunk" or something like that.

If anything people in the show should be speaking English like our friend Allelujah. "AI HABU KONTORU!"

Oh Zeus. Japanese seiyuu speaking English is hilariously bad at the best of times. Like Hiro from Heroes, only they're not meant to be adorably kooky.

I don't think the Gundam team has to worry about anyone suspecting they're the pilots. Especially not Mr. "I dress like somebody's grandmother."

Speaking of designs, isn't the Human Reform League's Tieren pretty much the definition of awesome? Occassionally I've found people who say 'if mecha existed, they'd look like stuff out of Battletech'. They're wrong - if giant robots actually existed, they'd look like the Motherfucking Tieren.
The Tieren is the unholy spawn of a Zaku and some unnamed Battlemech. I like it...

The "If mecha existed they'd look like Battletech" part, is BS. Mechs are automatically holding inferior armor and much higher profile compared to a tank so making a mech that is actually slower than the most heavily armored tank is just making a two legged death trap. If your show/game HAS to have mechs they damn well better be made for speed and mobility or they better be too small to qualify for anything more than oversized power armor. That's not counting the horrible design flaw known as the "chicken walker" and the massive heating issues shared by all Battlemechs.

!!!SPOILER ALERT!!!

Now then, after seeing Ep 04, I still can't make any estimates on their armor strength... Some South American country breaks off from the Union for no real reason whatsoever (That I could tell), judging from the tactical maps displayed it's Venezuela which means they're echoing the real world again with Chavez. Anyway, Union sends a carrier group on it, the Gundams show up (Exia was hidden underwater, in one of those hangar containers that look like they fit on their ship). The Gundams continue to make a massive show of their maneuverability and never get hit. They lay waste to the presumable capitals defenses and break off about the time Graham and his three man team come in and proceed to go after Exia, Graham scores a hit on it's shield (I think) with his custom black Union Flag's cannon and Exia retreats underwater. (GN Drives still work underwater apparantly)

By the way, the third episode has been reviewed.
THAT Animeblog wrote:Gundam 00 - 03: Gundam Jesus Solves All!
Posted by [Crusader] on October 26th, 2007 | Category: Gundam 00, Current

So the first round of midterms just ended for me and I finally have a bit of a break until round 2. If nothing else there is so much to poke fun in this series I am sure every one can bring something new to the table. The power of Gundam Jesus is truly awesome. School children in anime Japan however are still as dull as bricks and still contribute the greatest numbers to the ranks of the Captain Obvious Coprs. In any case better late than never…

Graham has a rather tepid fight with Exia who constantly protests that he does not like being touched. Clearly this Setsuna was an altar boy and/or the uke during his meister training. Still with Graham spewing out a wealth of material for yaoi fan fiction it is only a matter of time before people every where can tell how young a man is by moving his Gundam. Nevertheless Graham likes them a bit too young for my sensibilities even if I support his right to follow his own sexual predispositions. Good to know his mating detection system is working perfectly as Setsuna’s fashion sense is totally outrageous.

While Graham was sent running with his pants down he did get some of that nifty anointed Gundam Jesus paint. As we can see once again communication through Mecha works in this time line as well.

All this hoopla about one man discovering everything about solar power seems suspicious to me. After all even the atomic bombs required the brain power of numerous big wigs in physics. It would not surprise me if this Aeolia Schenberg was a proponent of deutche physik in addition to funding every thing with Nazi gold.

Ms. Wang was telling some sleaze bag at the bar about her next operations. I doubt many of use were paying attention to the three strikes plan because let’s be honest here no body gives a hoot about what they plan on doing next. Especially since we all get confirmation that Ms. Wang is underage and not legal to boot. Ms. Wang fans rejoice for her youth is assured for years to come. Still I have to wonder how some one underage can get into a bar, I can only assume that it was a pedo venue. I must say her body guard suck. Whoever the guy is he needs to bow his head in shame for getting sneaked up on. Still I do not know who Ms. Wang was talking to, what was his purpose again? I guess for now I’ll just call him pedophile 1…

Tieria is being emo as ever hating to be on earth where Haruhi intended. Guess the flamboyantly pink shirt was intened to conceal his goth tendencies. I suppose he wants to mate Moonraker style at least once. Once he gets back he shows his disdain for older women and perhaps women in general by refusing to drink with Sumeragi.

Despite the over blown declaration about ending all war the big three are too busy trying to get as much data and parts as they can from the Gundams. I have to say while humans just don’t change it is no doubt wise to learn more about your enemy. Especially if your enemy is being awfully high minded in his declaration of war.

Nevertheless progress of sorts is being made. Though it is obvious that the Sunrise team never passed physics. In fact they assert that light is particle and not a wave as well. If this were true I want to see evidence of how they made such a discovery. As it stands there is a Nobel Prize to be had. Then again like any crappy religion belief in Gundam Jesus must also mean blind adherence to scripture and rabid defense of faith based science. We all know that happiness and sunshine power the Gundams and that beam sabers are powered by emo youth screams.

I can’t believe that their solutions to every world problem to be bombs and explosions. Really now cocaine production stopping just because you bomb the plantations? Obviously the Sunrise team has a mandate to solve the war on drugs. If the US ever listened to such great advice then our burning operations would have worked by now. I can’t wait for the Sunrise Party to get elected to the Japanese Diet that way I can attend to more important business than driving up the price of coke via interdiction. Also Sunrise sure does love incendiaries, because after burning down that plantation I have a nagging suspicion that that fire is going to result in a lot of destroyed rain forest as well.

As for blood diamonds the Sunrise solution is again excessive. Clearly they hold these guys in contempt since Dynames used a pistol to see them off while standing in one place the whole time. Never mind ending the De Beers monopoly and bringing the cost of diamonds crashing down. Clearly these construction bots are the ones behind it, in fact they are so dangerous that they are routinely spared.

Not content with beating up a bunch of peons last time Setsuna goes forth to Ceylon to beat up more peons while LTC. Sergei is declaring that he does not believe in things he cannot see. This must be true because his overly bulky and ugly suit is some how capable of flying, apparently Sergei and Sunrise don’t believe in gravity. I cannot help but admire how Sergei had man handled that sissy Setsuna. Hopefully once the big three lessen the technological gap they can put Setsuna in his place.

In their final ep 3 blow Sunrise decided to inform us about the cessation of hostilities in Norther Ireland. After 400 years the heretics there have accepted Gundam Jesus as their personal savior. I can’t believe how far Sunrise is grasping on this one the Provisional IRA was most definitely a force to be reckoned with, but considering how both Ireland and the UK are in the EU most sane people realized that with such porous borders any continued conflict was pointless. Only nut cases in the Retarded Real IRA are still fighting for nothing as most of Ireland is smart enough to know that the EU makes national borders less of an issue given the closeness of member states.

Lastly and most certainly least the peanut gallery members Louise and Saji are having problems learning. Saji has no idea what his future is going to be. I can tell the sob of bitch right now that his fate is to be some broken down hack of an engineer that will have long been house broken by Louise. I don’t like this Saji because he has no love for history, which is incidentally one of the most beloved academic disciplines for grunts. I suspect that in the future that Saji will be ringing Setsuna’s bell for some sugar very often…Also news flash Saji the world changes everyday. In fact by your time the rain forest will have been long gone and you will have seen the end of oil. Now I know that this sorry wanker is an emo teen, but change happens every day. Every day a sucker is born, and every day humanity is finding new and innovative ways to kill each other. Really now, a boring world is a peaceful world.

Sumeragi might yet turn out to be that drunk salty captain I hope her to be. Still drtinking is only a small part of being an old seadog even if she is only 26 I want her cursing like a 59 year old. Remember captain even if you have overwhelming superiority through the pen of Sunrise never forget to hit them hard, hit them fast, and hit them often.

It seems the series is NOT going to become more entertaining as it goes along, unless all the pilots take anti-emo medication so they can spend their down time picking up hot females instead of whining, "War is bad, so we must end all war by killing all warriors," or some other bullshit.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)

The sheer hypocrisy in the Gundam pilots' "End all war by killing all warriors!" is enough to make me NOT want to see 'Gundam 00'. I'll go rent 'G Gundam' or the 'Full Metal Panic' sequels for mecha on mecha combat, thank you very much.

The sheer hypocrisy is the fucking point. You see, that's the kind of flaws and shit that brings conflict and intrigue. Graham Acre fucking said the Celestial Beings contradict themselves.

Such ignorance does not deserve the glory of the God Finger.

All the Celestial Being Gundams just need to be shot down by nuclear tipped Nike Zeus missiles the military suddenly remembers finding.

Then the rest of the series consists of random battles from across the world and the under age Chinese girl crying.

You know that comment I made about you int he Namor thread? You're still doing it. That's not what they're trying to do. That's a lie; the Gundam Meisters are trying to give the world a foe large enough and powerful enough that only by setting aside their differences and working together can they defeat them.

They are going to die. Their entire plan will end when all four Gundam Meisters are dead.

Really? Not seen the latest episode, so may have missed something. Far as I know, they don't plan on dying and if they did die, that'd be a first for me. Seeing the whole Gundam team die and do it for nothing, unless some amazing miraculous epiphany rocks the world, ending violence.

Wasn't it obvious from the second episodes introduction to the state of the world that Celestial Being's intention was to force a situation where the Big 3 has to get together in a Bigger 1 and get it on with the Meisters? Even Graham - who is clearly insane - seems to have noticed that their outward claims are too mad to make much sense. Admittedly, their leader is apparently a two hundred year old Lenin clone, but still ...

And of course, if you didn't guess that from the intro, then at the end of the second episode member of Cestial bEing state it. It's probably why Sumeragi is drinking so much, given that she knows that she's going to die in the end.

I like mecha because they look cool, and I keep hoping there would be a cool hero piloting the mecha in the anime DVDs I rent. Unfortunately, cool heroes seem to be the exception to the rule-- whiny emo teens who claim to be pacifists while hypocritically going on killing sprees are the rule. (I'm looking at you, 'Gundam Wing'.)

Hey Sidewinder! What the fuck does that have to do with this series? Have you been paying attention to anything that has been said by people in this thread? Or have you just been masturbating so furiously to that Crusader chump that everything we've said has gone straight in one ear, failed to lodge itself ion that lumpen mass you have the raw audacity to call a brain, and come out the other? If you'd been paying attention, at all, or maybe, just maybe actually watched the series, you might rethink this hypocrisy bullshit.

Do you actually like wallowing in ignorance? You seem to wear it like a glove. I remember you complaining that the original Gundam series glorified child soldiers, somehow completely missing the point in the process (you know, that children as soldiers is an inherently wrong concept).

Aww, who the fuck am I kidding. You actually listen to this Crusader idiot, thone with absolutely no idea what's going on in the series he's watching. Because someone the appearence of child soldiering in a negative light translates into a support for using children in warfare, and somehow Japan being an economic zone of a much larger power also translates to them being their own superpower.

You have no clue. You get your information from someone with no clue. So my suggestion is that you just stop talking and save us all the trouble of having to listen to you.

Frankly Sidewinder, the more you keep doing stuff like this, the more I'm getting convinced you do it not because you actually give anything so much as a damn about whatever the subject matter is, but so you can post these various op/ed pieces and reviews from specific sources in order to broadcast and reinforce your opinionated moral convictions.

Isn't that the same method by which the A-10 Thunderbolt II "flies"? If so, then awesome.
Let's face it, the A-10 doesn't 'fly'; it stares down gravity until it runs into a corner sobbing and then, due to sheer badassery, the air decides to get out of its way.
