Bionic Freaking Commando

Post by CycloneRider052 »

After what like...20 years Capcom has finally decided to make a sequel to one of the coolest and most original games on the NES
http://www.bioniccommando.com

There's also a video up on Live Marketplace. According to the website it's going to be on 360, PS3 AND PC, so it looks like no one is getting left behind.

God, I hate bloom.

But the game (Minus Bloom) looks pretty sweet, if that's in-game footage.

Done with an eye to awesome, this could be a cool little game. Doubtless it'll be full of nanotechnology/myspace/androgynous villians/ecological threats/angels/anti-war rambling though, so ...

And that, as they say, is that.

Er, what? Did you just step out of the 80s? Capcom has been almost solid fail for more than a decade! Remember Lost Planet, the Ugliest Game on 360? :)

Pardon? Since when was Lost Planet ugly? No, seriously, what the fuck Stark? I own the game, and it looks great.

The PC version is apparently better, but the 360 version was horrible. Ugh, use some ansio guys!

Oh and the game also sucked, being Capcom's 8bit bullshit recycled AGAIN. Oh well.

They'll have cleared everything up by Super Bionic Commando ZX Turbo Battle Network Hyper Fighting Code Veronica X and Justice for All.

I think by the quasi-spinoff (by which I mean fanservice cash cow) Ultimate Super Bionic Commando ZX Turbo Battle Network Hyper Fighting Code Veronica X and Justice for All Alpha Zero it may have covered some new ground and really shown us where Commandos with Bionic arms can take us. Then it'll be dropped for a spinoff about some woman in the background going to France.

And the SNK crossover Ultimate Super Bionic Commando ZX Turbo Battle Network Hyper Fighting Code Veronica X and Justice for All Alpha Zero Fist of Millenium Fury Street Final Darkness Fight will be the best, but ignored because zomg teh super spy is unbalanced lol. :)

All that said, I liked BC on NES and it's an interesting idea for a shooter. I just hope they DON'T add a jump (jump doesn't belong in most shooters anyway) and just give us awesome arm-physics.

And three-way guns. :)

If you see the videos on the website, you can see there will be much jumping.

I loved Bionic Commando on the C-64. This'll be much cooler than Crysis IMO.

Lets make assumptions about games that aren't even released yet, why don't we?

Really? Jumping? Odds of the game being an uninspired 3ps with a 'lol grapple' gimmick increasing. That makes me sad.

Swinging was hard enough to master in the sidescroller games (NES, GB, and GBA) so I can't imagine the difficulty in doing it in 3d.

Worked in the Spiderman games. Of course, the swinging was basically the only interesting part of the game: take it out, and you really do have a shit, uninspired piece of shit game. Oh noes, too hardz, let's make a generic game now!

Oh. Well the only Spiderman game I've ever played was the old SNES ones and the Playstation one where all the swinging was automagick. I hope the new Bionic Commando as ass poundingly hard as the first game. Especially that damn tower level that tests your patience...

I've never played them, but apparently the newer Spiderman games get the intuitive web-swinging thing down fine. Of course, the arm is much shorter...

From what I see, the jump is basically a non element, especially as compared to the Bionic arm. Yes, you can jump, but you don't get much height from it. I don't see it diminishing from the Bionic Arm.

Bugger off. It's a subjective reflection of mine because to me Crysis looks like just another military/sci-fi FPS, the kind of which there are thirteen by the dozens of, while Bionic Commando is a game I remember with fondness and thus the thought of a remake is more interesting to me.
