The Getaway/London Gangster Films/ Jack Higgins

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

Ok, this is an other Colin's thoughs thread so bear with me.

I just got a demo for a game Called The Getaway, I am presently reading a Jack Higgins Novel involving some nice "East End Charaters", I haven't seen Snatch, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels in months, the Micheal Cain version of Get Carter in years (But the Stalone versions on Ceinemax constantly) I just saw "Sexy Beast" a month ago, and I have been playing Max Payne for the last week straight.

so I am wondering what is the rest of the board's thoughts on English Mob movies? If you liked them what is your favorite?

FUCKIN' KICK BAWS!

Or in other words, they are the dog's bollocks. :D

My bro has The Getaway. Good game, but I reckon they rushed it out to meet Xmas sales, the photorealistic world of London is great though, far better than GTA: 1969 London (duh!).

But be warned, it is plot driven but also very realistic, it handles difficult at first (like Max Payne and Driver rolled into one with the fighting and driving aspects) but you get used to it.

Mr brothers gripes about the Getaway are that there's no health or ammo metres.

Mine are the sneaky missions and the friggin Camera Angles of Doom

Getaway is great. Some gripes though

- Sparse weapons. Only guns are two pistols, a shotgun, an AK-47 and MP5. Would be nice to have variety.

- Physics is messed up. Your car stops completely against a frigging traffic light. Stupid. Grand Theft Auto 3 does it better.

Nope. James Mason rules utterly. The Michael Caine version of 20k Leagues
was shit compared to the James Mason version.
