The Doctor gets uh..a new companion. Sort of (Big Spoiler)

Post by Dartzap »

Actress Billie Piper is to return to Doctor Who, the BBC has confirmed.
She will star in three episodes of the sci-fi drama, reprising her role as the Doctor's companion, Rose Tyler.

Rose's return will mean the Doctor has three assistants in next year's series - Donna, played by Catherine Tate, and Freema Agyeman as Martha.

The new series begins in March and will run for 13 episodes. There will be three special editions in 2009 before the show takes a break until 2010.

I hope there going to do some funky cross your own timeline shit rather than access the parallel dimension. But still this sound very contrived. My expectations for the new series are going down.

They should call the episodes, the "Three Companions".

They should do the same thing they did in the "Two Doctors" and keep Rose's character stuck on a television screen.
I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

That was "The Three Doctors" - Hartnell was stuck on the screen (due to his ill health in reality). "The Two Doctors" was Troughton and Colin Baker.

Hmm... not sure how this is going to work out. Still, be interesting to see how Rose & the Doctor cope seeing each other again...

Whoops, that makes it all the more fun.

I had a feeling Billie was coming back in the near future anyway, so it is not a particularily huge spoiler - the real spoiler is always why, how, and when...

Despite the fact it'll probably be pretty contrived, I'm actually kind of happy abou this. I liked Rose a hell of a lot more than Martha.

I do like Martha...but I hope they don't do something idiotic like kill off Rose. "Cross your own timeline" junk is always fun, though.

They actually already had an episode where Rose was stuck in a television.

Some of us want to pretend that episode does not exist.

Or in my case, I forgot that episode.

You know how I was saying 4th season might be really bad?

Um... yeah. I hate to agree with Valdemar, but way to totally undermine the best finale so far. They could have at least made it Mickey's Extremely Gay Cyberman Hunter buddy, that guy was cool.

Jake would be easy. He should have a version of him in this universe.

He was still cute, though.
What can I say, I'm easy... :P

But personally, I think this might be some kind of "Companion overload". I would have preferred to just have one, either Tate or Freema would be ok (though I'd go with Tate ;) )

Will you stop being a lame retard any time soon?

Dahak, I guess it depends what you're into, but Jake had that whole really excited look on his face, so you know he's got to be action man lol.

Isn't Jack coming back a bit too? So on and off, four companions next season? It could work done right, (and not all simultaneously) but I somehow doubt it'll be cool like the Jack/Rose/Mickey stuff was.

Who is he, captain of the innuendo squad? :)

I wouldn't mind seeing him return on a semi permanant basis. Yeah, we get it, the Doctor has lots of female companions. But the Doctor/Guy dynamic works well enough too. Jamie springs to mind. You'd probably need a girl in there too, in order to keep people from whining about gender balance. But still.

Well fuck you too. I was making a joke since she recently filmed some made for T.V. in which she plays a prostitute and does go nude. Take that log out of your ass.

Oh yeah, you showed me. How's 12 years old this time of year?

And NL, Jake was awesome. And really, 'better than Martha' is a low standard to meet. :)

I think it sounds like a shit idea unless they get Christopher Eccleston in on the action and those Langolier ripoffs and work on that idea a bit more.
