Gay General Slams Republicans

Post by Falkenhayn »

It just happend on the CNN YouTube debate. An ex Army General who graduated from Spec Ops officer school, with 42 year's service, came out the year he retired. He asked the question "Why do you think America's armed forces aren't professional enough to serve with open gays and lesbians?"

After giving some stock-n-trade talking points, the General, who asked the question, revealed himself to be in the audience, and you should have SEEN the looks on those faces. Duncan Hunter didn't know whether to shit or go blind. Then he kicked their asses up a wall and down another.

His mike went out for a bit, and he was booed from somewhere in the audience. The debate is still going on, but this should be streaming in no time.
Many thanks! These darned computers always screw me up. I calculated my first death-toll using a hand-cranked adding machine (we actually calculated the average mortality in each city block individually). Ah, those were the days.

Hunter's response was a quivering pile of bullshit. He basically said, well, even though the Israelis and Brits can do it without problems (and the Israelis have been doing it for a while), we're Americans! Many of our guys come from gay-bashi- err, "conservative" homes, and having to respect the rights of gay Americans intrudes on their right to be bigoted assholes.

It almost makes you wonder if Hunter would defend the right of the US military to segregate blacks before 1948 on the basis of racially-integrated units offending the sensibilities of racist fucks coming from racist-fuck backgrounds, were this the 1940s.

Sorry to add a third post in a row, but it is not letting me edit my posts. Apparently, the Gay General is on some kind of steering committee for Hillary Clinton and didn't bother to disclose it. Not that that changes the validity of his question in any degree.

This debate was absolutely pathetic. The Dem debate has some Gotchas from the Republicans(If a Democrat gets in office, will our taxes rise like they always do when a Democrats in office?), vapid(Diamonds or Pearls?... When the girl who asked it had a legitimate question about Yucca Mountain), and other stupidity. The GOP one? They purposefully eliminated non 'Republican' questions. Also, because apparently the point is NOT to give people the voice, they gave Grover Norquest a question.

Sad and pathetic. It's how the media treats Republicans. With kid gloves.

The Post-debate featured a Mia Culpa by Anderson Cooper. Apparently, six months ago, according to Cooper, the General was put on a steering committee by the Clinton Campaign.

His post is ironic when you consider that many soldiers and officers are married.

Nothing happened on the issue in 1948, except the passage of another selective service act which continued the policy of segregation!

The US military did not begin in integrate until 1951, well into the Korean War. The reason why it did so was specifically because of the repeated failure of all black units in combat. Note that integration was not initiated by the Truman administration as has often been claimed, but rather on the authority of the commander of 8th Army, Matthew Bunker Ridgway, a great man from a forgotten war.

Ridgway initially only intended to integrate units actually in Korea, but since he had decided that no combat unit should be more then 12% black, he found he also had to integrate two National Guard divisions which had just arrived in Japan as well. This required approval of the army staff in Washington (but not any political leadership) but Ridgway faced little opposition. All black units had failed before in Italy, and Army leadership would pretty much go along with anything that had a chance of salvaging the situation in Korea. The idea was soon adapted by the rest of the army, but total integration was not actually ordered until 1954.

I’m pretty sure the legal nature of the current policy on gays is such that it cannot be changed without an executive order from the president or a law passed by Congress. However there is considerable president for the military simply ignoring its own regulations on gays during wartime in ordered to hold onto the manpower. We can only hope that one day our commanders in the field will simply refuse to implement the policy; because I really don’t foresee any political change anytime soon.

Back to the main subject-

Now that it has gotten out that the General works for Clinton, you are probably going to see all manner of bitching on Faux News and other media tomorrow about it. Even, though, of course, his point was entirely valid regardless of whom he is working for .

And never mention that it was a gay man that broke the enigma code (then designed a machine to automatically decode the ciphers, as well as invented calc on his own when he was six, did work in computational modeling in developmental biology we still use today, despite him having none of the techniques we used to confirm his math, AND fathered computer science) allowing the Allies a much easier time winning the war... who the Brits proceeded to royally shaft in the '50s....

Hell, if I was in a foxhole with a guy, and he was the only thing that was between me and an enemy squad, after we got out I might be so grateful I'd want to have sex with HIM, and I'm not even gay.

I love how the idiots on Youtube and Fox News are thinking the Clinton connection gives them carte-blanche to completely sidestep this General's attack and not even answer. What cowards.
