Clan Wolf in da house, FUCK the Falcons!

That said, a clan based Mechwarrior game could be very interesting. Start it around 3030 or so as you test out as a Mechwarrior, engaging other Clans with a plot that slowly works up over the first quarter of the game to show the increasing tension between the Wardens and Crusaders about going to invade the Inner Sphere, but broad and open ended enough to let you chose your own way in the clans.

Then you can cover the invasion of the Inner Sphere, the clan you choose initially (or get captured and inducted into) determining where you attack and how the campaigns go, with teh ability to alter major historical events and change the whole damn campaign :D

It's been such a long time since i've played any REAL FASA games.

The only Clan i'm familiar with are those Smoke Jaguar dudes. And from the looks of it, they SUCK compared to the others. "Maybe you idiots shouldn't declare war on the Inner Sphere AND other Clans at the same time."

But hey, maybe they'll finally expand on the Clans in another Mechwarrior title. As long as it isn't Mechassault 3: Make Big Fire! (That goes for you too, CS.)
Best care anywhere.

I am most pleased with this announcement. During the time Microsoft had the video game rights, I was barely content with MechWarrior 4, MW4 : Mercenaries and MechCommander 2.

Good thing third party mods and expansions for Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries helped improve the experience.

However, they had to damage my respect for the series by creating MechAssault and MechAssault 2...

I hope MechWarrior 5 will return to the roots of being a serious simulation.

Well, you'll be happy to know that a little combined Inner Sphere force called Task Force Serpent curb-stomped them under the flag of the reformed Star League. The Smoke Jaguars are out of the running, permanently, after the IS smashed the space and land defenses, razed every piece of heavy industry on their capitol world, then left again. The other Clans made short work of the Jags. :)

Even worse - Task Force Serpent starting the thrashing, Clan Nova Cat deliberately lost a Trial of Position to become part of the Star League, and then Nova Cat took part in the Great Refusal and thrashed Clan Ice Hellion in Trial for the League. Ghost Bear's essentially allied to the Inner Sphere, and Wolf is split between the anti-Sphere Clan Wolf and the pro-Sphere Wolf-in-Exile. The only truly hostile Clans with any territory are Wolf and Jade Falcon; Wolf only borders the Draconis Combine (which has Clan Nova Cat) and Rasalhague (which contains Wolf-in-Exile), and Jade Falcon borders Rasalhague and the Lyran Alliance. Of the six invading Clans, two eventually allied with the Sphere (Nova Cat and Ghost Bear), one split (Wolf), and two were essentially destroyed (Smoke Jagaur and Steel Viper). Only Jade Falcon has remained "true Clan," and it's been severely weakened by war with Steel Viper and Wolf.

You missed the last part of Ghost Bear's switch: Their wholesale move to their Inner Sphere territories in the process. Go ahead, make Rasalhague's day, they've got the Panzerbjorns riding shotgun. :)
