BSODing after updating to SP2
After my Dad tried updated the computer to SP2, it's been BSODing right after the XP loading screen. The only way to boot XP up is through Safe Mode. I remember this having happened awhile ago, the first time I tried updating to SP2, but I don't remember what I did then to repair the install. I booted up in Safe Mode and tried to image the harddrive, but Acronis gave me an error and wouldn't image the drive. I then tried copying and pasting all the important data onto one of my external harddrives to no effect (I can copy, but I'm unable to paste). What else can I try to back up all the data? I'm not ruling out just reformatting, but before it comes to that I just want to back up what needs backing up and if possible repairing the install.
Any help is appreciated. (Sorry for the glare in the photos, but the error code is still visible, if it's of any help.)
Thanks

I had an issue like this at one point - I had used an image of my school's laptop (intel cpu), and put it onto a newer AMD machine. SP2 borked the whole thing, but I could get into safe mode. Turns out there is a registry key you've got to change if you're install was originally for an intel machine, and is currently using an AMD machine (and you've upgraded to SP2). If this is your situation, I'll see if I can't find the instructions I had written down for fixing the registry key.
I did a bit of searching on google, and found a couple of solutions to the problem.
Solution 1 (edit the registry)
Variation of Solution 1
or Solution 2(hotfix)
or then of course removing SP2, but I'd like to keep it at SP2.
Which solution should I try?
Thanks
