Help on sci-fi fan demographics
It is often said that sci-fi fans are overwhelmingly young males. Is there a source for this, apart from "common knowledge"? Where could one find about about the demographics of sci-fi fandom? Surely there's a shitload of demographic data about sci-fi shows like Star Trek and Stargate which have been on the air for many years and whose advertisers need this information, but is it publicly available?

Could try http://www.gateworld.net. A few days after each episode they usually have a story on how it did in the ratings and sometimes break it down into the age group it did well in.
