Many police cars have shotguns loaded with 00-buckshot. I'd be surprised if one wasn't used on the tiger.

Yikes! The zoo director now admits that the wall was only 12.5 ft high!
So maybe even if the victims were idiots, their chances of winning the lawsuit has increased.

This sad incident for the victims has increased my respect for tigers as killing machines.

As I said, fucking incompetence. The zoo director should be fired as a matter of course just for the statement of
Zoo director Mollinedo wrote:"She had to have jumped"
"How she was able to jump that high [12.5 feet] is amazing to me."
which betrays such breathtaking idiocy, negligence and incompetence that it boggles the mind.

Anyone who has the least familiarity with a common bloody housecat knows that cats of any stripe can make insane jumps. Housecats commonly jump to the tops of open doors from a standing start without breaking a sweat. A fully grown Siberian tiger is a minimum of ten feet long when stretching out, so it didn't need to hop more than two or three feet to get its paws over the top of the fence, at which point it was perfectly capable of pulling itself over and a 30 foot leap over the moat is peanuts for a fully grown tiger.

If anyone does decide to take the zoo to court, they are going to have to pay through the nose. And the people responsible for zoo security wrt animal enclosures should also be fired without any further review. This is more and more of a non-story about how the tiger escaped and more and more of a story about what else could the morons running the zoo have done wrong.

Yeah Edi's dead on.

I've seen my cat, who is just a housecat, jump at least six feet. He does it all the time, it's like a game, jumps up to my shoulder. If they honestly didnt think a SIBERIAN FUCKIG TIGER, who has muscles in her legs bigger than most body builders have muscles in their arms, would be unable to jump just twelve feet...i mean, that's just incompetent.

Of course then there is the part about the kid, and the people who said he was fucking around with her before she snapped his head off...

Yeah so basically every human in this story was a moron and only the tiger seemed to have an common sense.

Yes, and because of these morons a beautiful tiger is dead!
Human stupidity continues to amaze me.

no, human stupidity does not amaze me. I take it for granted the same way I take the planet orbitting the sun. I expect everyone else who is driving to be a complete idiot, I expect the other voters to be friggin idiots, I expect our leaders to be so. I'm rarely suprised.

alas Titania we hardly knew yea.

oh, and today at work, we've been going, "Remember not to feed the Siberian Tiger any guests" after we were nearly wrecked by a tourist driving the wrong way. The boss said: "Where's a tiger when you really need one?"

Here's an article in today's newspaper that has a diagram of the enclosure.
But here's a little snip that might shed a little light on the kind of people Tatiana attacked:
San Jose Mercury News wrote: In another development, Carlos' father alleged Paul Dhaliwal lied about his son's whereabouts that day. Carlos' family was worried when he failed to turn up Christmas morning to open presents and began calling friends to find out where he may be.

Carlos Sr. had called Paul Dhaliwal around 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. Christmas Day - just an hour or two before the tiger attacks. He wanted his son home to celebrate Christmas dinner with his mother.

But Dhaliwal reportedly told Sousa he hadn't seen his son for days.
