I would like Wii Virtual Console suggestions

Post by Qwerty 42 »

My favorite game so far has been Gunstar Heroes, which I'd never played before now.

Thing is, we beat it.

I'd like more games in a similar vein available for the VC, exempting Contra.

The only condition is that it must have co-operative play, not alternating or single player.

Any ideas?

R-Type III, Gradius III, Axelay, Altered Beast, and Golden Axe games should be good titles. Just off the top of my head.

I don't know what kinda game Gunstar Heroes is (besides scroller), but TOEJAM AND EARL is the greatest coop game on VC. :)

Mario Kart if you have the controllers necessary (can you do it with Gamecube controllers? All the buttons should be there).

You can play most VC games with a gamecube controller, though N64 titles work best for this.

Sin and Punishment, assuming that the US got the same import titles we in Australia received during the Hanabi festival.

Well I meant if you could play Mario Kart with the GC controller, but I guess you answered my question.

I'm tempted to hook one up to play SMB3. :)

Mario Kart and S&P are fine suggestions, but remember that I'm looking for co-op. What do those two titles have to offer?

Mario Kart is a racing game, so it's multi even if it isn't 'coop'. S&P is just a fairly silly shooter. :)

Toejam and Earl, on the other hand, has a massive surreal world to explore either together or separated by splitscreen, resources to share, etc. It's a fairly silly game made awesome by the coop play.

S&P is cute as a novelty but really not worth the money unless you're into crazy Japanese shooters. It has a ridiculously useless co-op mode where one player moves and the other shoots.

SMB3 has a co-op mode of sorts, where you both move through the worlds but play levels alone. And it's one of the greatest games ever. Also, Donkey Kong Country has a real co-op mode and is a decent game on it's own.

Buy every amazing game which never saw US release. Since you liked Gunstar Heroes, buy Sin & Punishment for the N64, also by Treasure.

Except he's expressly asking for co-op games, and S&P's co-op is stupid. Can't you read?

TOEJAM AND EARL.

Yes...

Have you even played it? If there's going to be goalpost-shifting in this thread, it should at least come from the OP.

What? I own S&P. Are you declaring it's co-op to be awesome? How is it moving the goalposts to say 'that's shit'? If he's looking for good 2p co-op, 'you steer and I'll work the pedals' is not worth his 1200 points. He could almost get TOEJAM AND EARL and another game for that.

Are you in love with S&P? It's a bit rubbish.

To be fair, S&P looked like a good game, but I agree that the co-op system seemed suspect at best.
