Weyland-Yutani, in its infinite meddling with American military contracts, gets congress to approve deployment of the Ghost Recon (as of GRAW2) and Rainbow 6 teams to Colorado to kill and retrieve any aliens, be it predator or xenomorph.

Both teams are working together with full access to real time satellite data and all their cool toys from the games and novels (if any?). The national guard will be running around trying to contain the situation similar to the movie, and will primarily serve to support the Ghosts and Rainbow. To help ensure retreival success, transports will follow closely behind. (Stryker, M113, Black Blackhawk.)

Now Scenario 1: Both teams go into this fully briefed with secret data obtained from an ill fated mission in South America, and the failed expedition to the South pole (or was it North?). They are aware of the aliens capabilities.

Now Scenario 2: Both teams are told jack and squat, just that there are aliens and that they'll know'em when they see them.

Now Scenario 3: Duke Nukem.

Can they kill and extract any aliens?

What the fuck is Duke Nukem? Do they get the Duke with them? What?

Scenario 1 is gonna be shit for the Aliens and the Predator, then. In Predator 2, a bunch of douchebags with weaponized fire extinguishers and space suits were able to nearly take the Pred down. And, as they say, if it bleeds, we can kill it. The aliens are just animals.

To be fair though, the Predator in Predator 2 was on vacation. I mean, he went for the drugs first, then holed up in the beef warehouse to be right next to all the food he could want. Wolf from AVP2 seems at least mildly more competent then any other Predators we've yet seen, albeit almost myopically focused on hunting down the Xenomorphs to the point where humans seem to be able to operate outside his attention extensively in the film. The only xeno who might give these spec ops pause is the Predalien, if only because it has capabilities we've never observed and so all their briefing pretty much goes out the window.

I just don't know if you can capture a Predator or not; killing one is certainly possible, especially with adequate preparation time beforehand (I'm looking at you Ahnuld), but since there's no evidence of what effect tranquilizers might have on them it seems like it would almost take amputation to stop one from activating that wrist-bomb they're so fond of. Aliens are probably another story, though keeping them in captivity is a very different story, as Alien 4 showed. Scenario 1 seems like it could go either way, depending on how strong the respective character shields are, Scenario 2 goes to the Aliens and Predators (ignorance seems to give both species a +10 to all abilities and major character shield buffs) and I'm sure I have no idea what Scenario 3 would entail

Scenario 3: Duke Nukem.

"It's time to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all outta gum."

No aliens are coming out of this alive, and every attractive female finds herself impregnated not by facehuggers, predaliens, or man, but by the gamma irradiated hulk sperm from the Duke himself.

I am a GRAW 2 fanwhore, so I'm going to say if they know what they're facing, they might be able to take 'em both. Question is, do they have anything that lets them see a cloaked predator? If not, they're going to be for one helluva fun time.

Not being super knowledgeable about predators, I'm under the assumption that they could be detected using thermal imagers. GRAW2 and R6 teams both have them. So unless I'm wrong, I would say that their sophisticated optical stuff would allow preds at least, to be detected. Granted I've only seen the the predator movies up to AvP1.

In Predator 2, didn't thermal imaging expressly not work, hence why they had to use radioactive UV displacement shit?

Infrared sensors might still be useful. (I know Predators see in infrared, and I doubt they're incompetent enough to design a cloaking device that's useless against enemies that see in infrared, but the cloak becomes less effective when a Predator's moving, so the contrast might be visible on an infrared sensor.) As for Rainbow Six's heartbeat sensors, they MIGHT detect the energy radiated by a Predator's heart, but we don't have enough info on Predator physiology to say.
Please do not make Americans fight giant monsters.

Those gun nuts do not understand the meaning of "overkill," and will simply use weapon after weapon of mass destruction (WMD) until the monster is dead, or until they run out of weapons.

They have more WMD than there are monsters for us to fight. (More insanity here.)
