Which Democrat would you vote for in the primary?
Primary time is almost here. (Has it really been 4 years? Gods. I remember making a poll about Dean Vs. Bush in 2004 and feeling really embarrassed after he imploded.) So which democrat would you vote for assuming you could vote in the primary?

Obama. Hearing him speak gives me hope. I have not felt hope politically for 8 years, and dont get the same feeling from other candidates. Any of them are better than a republican, but only the Hildebeast has a chance at winning a national election other than Obama. And she is..well... lets face it... evil. And she uses our (the gay) vote and will probably throw us under a bus after the election

Obama. I view his "lack of experience" as an advantage. Beltway experience is just a euphemism for knowing how to duck out on doing the work you were elected for to attend a re-election fundraiser.

Polling indicates that John Edwards beats all three Republican front-runners by larger margins than either Clinton or Obama, and he's been playing that up in Iowa. His platform also agrees with my desires even more than Obama's, although the margin there is a little slimmer. I'd be happy to vote for either in the national, but Edwards is my pick for the nomination.Alyrium Denryle wrote:Obama. Hearing him speak gives me hope. We've reached one of those rare nexuses where you and I actually agree about something. I liked Hillary a hell of a lot better when she wasn't trying to adopt this "warm and cuddly" image.MKSheppard wrote:Hitlery -- because I know she's a mean sadistic bitch and would not hestitate to nuke the crap out of our enemies. I'll be going to the caucus for Obama, but I'm more than willing to settle for Edwards, too. I just hope it's not Clinton. Basically, I'll be going to un-vote for her.
Had they all an equal chance of winning, I'd actually vote for Gravel, because he's delightfully nuke-happy, IIRC. I'm personally partial to Kucinich, but I'd still never vote him into any office but "alright guy". Even if he had a chance.

I'll take any one of Edwards, Obama or Clinton. I'd just prefer Obama. The only real problems I have with Hillary these days deal with how she runs her campaign, not about her stances.Darth Raptor wrote:I'll be going to the caucus for Obama, but I'm more than willing to settle for Edwards, too. Edwards or Obama. Slight edge to Edwards, because frankly I do happen to like his intent to bum-rush the special interests. Sadly, that'll hurt him when the wall of those interests around Washington closes up.

Obama has my vote on the Democrat side but Bill Richardson has a chance of snagging it if he can get some more support, or signs on as John Edwards's VP.
Hilliary on the other hand can die in a cold dark hell, but then as I've said in the past I've had a chance to meet then Senator Clinton at a non-public event, and I've seen how she treats the help, along with her firm friendship with Joseph Liberman(The Social fascist in Democrats clothing) she can forget it.

Edwards. Obama still chugs at the corporate cock far too much for my tatses. Though he's my second choice. I'd write in "Bill O'Rielly" before voting for Clinton in the primary.

If the media were covering the election like an actual discussion of issues rather than a horserace, then I might choose Richardson Biden or Dodd. Richardson and Biden because they'd actually know what the fuck they were doing in terms of foreign policy and Dodd because of his strong stance against Guantanamo and the abuse of presidential power. Of course, before he was elected, Dick Cheney was pretty knowledgeable about foreign policy before he got elected
Hillary Clinton just feels fake: She has about one term as a senator of actual experience over Barack Obama and everything else she claims is fake experience (she was the wife of a reasonably successful president who is rumored to have exerted more influence than a first lady should) based on fake authority (had she actually exerted the influence people say she did, on whose authority did she do so? What office was she elected to? What position was she appointed and confirmed to? What oversight was there?). So far she has given no solid positions on anything to distinguish herself and provides no compelling reason to vote for her other than that she would be woman president.
Edwards is smarmy(probably a leftover residue from his days as an ambulance chaser) but at least he's had a consistent theme and message.
Obama's proven himself to be smart and capable of making obvious statements without waffling (why would we ever use nuclear weapons on a terrorist camp?) though he's not that great in a debate.

Bill Richardson is the only candidate who's been talking about a 55mpg CAFE by 2018 instead of the 35mpg by 2022 law, and he's spearheaded massive rail transit development in New Mexico as governor, and intends to do the same on a national level if elected. A pity he couldn't play up his Hispanic heritage more obviously with a name like, oh, Guilherme Ricardo, so that he might actually be a serious contender.

It's pretty much a tossup between Kucinich and Obama.
They're both pretty close to my positions. I like Kucinich more, so I voted for him, but Obama is certainly the guy who has more chance of taking it in November.

Dennis Kucinich. I tend to find most of what all the Democrats are saying to be fairly favourable; but I really enjoyed Kucinich's attempt to impeach Cheney and stated desire to do the same to Bush whilst his wife used to attend me University, which makes her cool... really cool.
That being said if I was really worried that my vote would count for something I'd be tempted to go with whoever is least likely to stop Hillary winning because it seems to me that Hillary is the candidate that will get the angry middle American idiot out in force against her. I don't like her, but she has a lot of negatives in the US and I don't want to risk a Republican... I mean really...

Richardson, most definitely.
Pro:
Health care reform, ending the neocon foreign policy we now have, fair trade instead of 'free' trade, pro gun rights, against Bush's tax 'reforms', etc.
Con:
The sole con for me is his position on illegal immigration.
Frankly, I'd vote for Richardson over any of the Repubs in a general election.

Really, Bill Richardson has impressed me the most of the lot, even though his chances of actually being the democratic nominee are somewhere around the chances of me gaining the ability to cause women's bras to spontaneously unhook with the power of positive thought.
I like Obama the most of the ones who are likely to be nominees.
